The LG V40 release date is only a few weeks away that means you must decide on it or something like the Galaxy Note 9 instead. With five cameras the V40 is an exciting new phone, but is it better than the Galaxy Note 9? Here we’ll go over all the details and compare the two for those interested.

This week LG confirmed the LG V40 with a huge 6.4-inch OLED display, five cameras, fast performance and premium sound. All things that will give the Galaxy Note 9 a serious run for its money. However, it doesn’t have a stylus, tons or storage, or a huge battery. There are trade-offs you’ll have to decide on.

The Galaxy Note 9 went on sale earlier this year, so most buyers know what it offers. Not to mention it’s similar to the Galaxy Note 8 or even the Galaxy S9 from March. Basically, it’s Samsung’s biggest and best dual camera smartphone. It’s extremely fast, powerful, capable, and has a massive 4,000 mAh battery that lasts all day.

If you’re looking for a phone with a huge screen these are two of the best options in 2018. They’re not the only ones, but they’re the smartphones with the most complete package. Yes the upcoming OnePlus 6T will be affordable, but it’s missing key features that makes the LG V40 worth consideration.

Both the LG V40 and the Galaxy Note 9 have a huge 6.4-inch screen, tons of power, plenty of storage, and multiple cameras on the back. You need to decide if the five cameras and boombox sound with a Quad-Dac are important, or if you’d rather have an S-Pen stylus.

There are pros and cons to each, and you’ll have to decide which ones are more important to you.

LG V40 vs Galaxy Note 9: Display

The first thing we want to talk about is the screen. It's one of the most important aspects of any smartphone purchase, right?

This year LG delivered a bigger 6.4-inch high-end Quad-HD AMOLED screen, the best OLED display ever from LG. And, it's nearly the same size as the Galaxy Note 9. Unfortunately, the LG V40 does have a notch in the display, but you can hide that with software, unlike the iPhone Xs Max. Early reviews suggest this is the best screen ever from LG, and one that closely competes with Samsung's panels.

The Galaxy Note 9 has a big 6.4-inch Quad-HD display with curved edges and no notch. There are bezels at the top and the bottom, but no notch. This makes the LG V40 the smaller device, even though they have the same size screen. LG's scratches to the top and the bottom, while Samsung's doesn't.

Basically, can you handle the notch?

I own a lgv40 after trading it in with a s9 Samsung. The reason is the flow of the phone and lg’s iu is great. It intergrades nicely with google. Samsungs iu is sloppy and cumbersome , the flow is horrible. If Samsung allowed you to customize the IU I would own a note 9.
