Logitech Powered for iPhone Review: Smart Wireless Charger with Landscape Support

Published

on

The Logitech Powered for iPhone is a wireless charger for the iPhone 8 and newer that allows you to charge the iPhone in portrait or landscape mode and to use Face ID easily to unlock your iPhone. This charger is well thought out, made of high-end soft-touch materials and one of our favorites.

Unlike most wireless chargers that are flat pads designed to charge when you aren’t using your iPhone, the Logitech Powered for iPhone is designed with watching videos, playing games and making video calls in mind.

Logitech sells the Powered for iPhone wireless charger for $69.99 and you can also buy it at Apple.

This wireless charger works great with the iPhone X, iPhone XS, iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus and iPhone XR. I used it primarily with my iPhone XS Max, which doesn’t charge in portrait mode while in the case. It does charge in landscape mode and with the case off in portrait mode.

I like that this charger is made of high quality materials, that it includes a built-in cord and plug that is long and heavy duty. I often move wireless chargers around the house depending on the season or other needs so I want something that feels like it will handle plugging and unplugging well. This fits that bill.

There is a nice cutout in the bottom edge of the charger and it is angled enough that when you place the phone in portrait mode to charge the sound from the speaker comes out and the microphone is readily available. There are all of these small attention to detail touches that stand out. The small non slip feet, the visible, but not mind blowingly bright LED and the angle of the charger that makes Face ID work oh so well while charging.

Logitech Powered for iPhone delivers 7.5W of power to the iPhone while charging and you can get a charge while using the iPhone, unlike with most wireless chargers. I think this is perfect for a desk, a nightstand or a kitchen if you use your phone while cooking.

While I had an issue with the iPhone XS Max in a case, it was not due to the thickness on the back of the phone. This works with many cases on the iPhone 8 Plus and the iPhone X.
