More Nexus 6 Release Details Emerge

Published

on

With the Nexus 6 release date quickly approaching and pre-orders live from both the Google Play Store and Motorola themselves, buyers are likely looking for more details from each individual carrier in the United States. And while only T-Mobile has confirmed a Nexus 6 launch, today some new details have leaked.

The Nexus 6 release date on all five major carriers in the United States is still somewhat of a mystery, but today a few leaks surfaced on Reddit that is shedding light on Sprint’s plans to offer Google’s new flagship Android 5.0 smartphone.

Google’s new Nexus 6 was announced back on October 15th, and the company confirmed that all five major carriers in the United States would offer it “by November” but not necessarily in November. If you’re on Sprint though, we have more details regarding the release after the break.

As expected, the Nexus 6 went up for pre-order on October 29th just like Google promised, but it sold out in under five minutes. It was a bit of a mess, and the company has promised more stock each Wednesday until the release date. When is the release date though? Your guess is as good as anyone’s, but it looks like everything will kick off on November 12th.

T-Mobile is the only carrier that has confirmed the Nexus 6 release date. Promising both the Nexus 6 and Nexus 9 tablet will be available in stores and online starting November 12th. However, the 64GB Nexus 6 will be from the online site only, with in-store purchases being the cheaper 32GB option.

So what about other carriers? Today a leak emerged from Reddit reportedly confirming a few of the release date details for Sprint. In a similar move as last year with the Nexus 5, Sprint will not offer the larger variant of the Nexus 6. The leaked document suggests Sprint will have the 32GB Nexus 6 in Midnight Blue only. They won’t carry the white model, nor will they offer the 64GB version to buyers.

While Motorola is leading the charge with customization and options on the new Moto X, those same luxuries won’t be awarded to those looking to get Google’s latest Nexus 6 smartphone.

Another set of leaks, as well as a comment on the same Reddit thread seem confident that the Sprint Nexus 6 release date is scheduled for November 14th, just two days after T-Mobile. That’s yet to be remotely confirmed, and if accurate, expect release details and official announcements from Sprint any day now.

This all being said, last week Google posted some rather important information regarding the Nexus 6 pre-order situation. They confirmed the Play Store will have more stock each Wednesday, as they sold out the first two times in a matter of minutes. This means if  Sprint’s release is limited or buyers want a 64GB version, the Play Store should have more in stock each Wedneday for the foreseeable future.

To make matters more confusing though, Google also stated four of the five main US carriers will have the Nexus 6 available and in stock before the end of November. Those being T-Mobile, AT&T, US Cellular, and Sprint, with Verizon Wireless no where to be found, or mentioned. This left many thinking Verizon’s Nexus 6 launch won’t be until December, with the other major US carriers pushing the phone out before the end of this month.

At the moment only T-Mobile has confirmed a release, which takes place in a few days, and hopefully we learn more information from all other carriers in the coming days or weeks. The Nexus 6 release date is still a huge mystery, but it should clear up soon.
