Motorola Atrix Gingerbread Update Keeps Looking Better And Better

Published

on

Information on the Motorola Atrix Gingerbread update keeps on pouring in and from the looks of things, this is going to be one heck of an update for Atrix owners. Last night, we learned that there is a possibility that the bootloader will be unlocked when Gingerbread arrives and now we have some intel pointing to the release being the latest version of Gingerbread, Android 2.3.4.

Motorola Atrix

Android and Me has uncovered some test shots of Gingerbread running on the Atrix and it appears that the phone will be getting Android 2.3.4, which of course includes Google Talk with video chat among other things.

And that’s not all. Here are some notes that their ninja made about the update:

  • Battery life is substantially improved; with GMail and Exchange syncing, battery easily lasts over a day
  • GPS locks very quickly
  • No more random reboots
  • Overall far smoother experience

Sounds pretty good to us, if it’s the real deal. So yes, Atrix owners. There is a possibility that you will not only see your bootloader get unlocked in July but will also see Android 2.3.4 Gingerbread arrive as well.

A little too good to be true? Probably, but keep those fingers crossed, eh?

The important thing is to see that motorola is believing in its first dual core smartphone.
Maybe I’m a fool, but this scores a point for the “Atrix will get ICS” team.

I never heard about an Atrix voice issue and I haven’t any, and 1080 video recording is available thanks to XDA folks :)

The voice issue is sporadic, but it is a hardware issue according to my experience.

Even though my unrooted Atrix is crippled, I still find it the best Android phone. If they (AT&T & Motorola) open it up, it will be divine.

I’m extremely happy to hear all the great things that the update is said to bring…however, I sell phones for Verizon, and with the release of the Droid X2 & the Motorola Droid 3, it is constantly stuck in my face how AWESOME gingerbread is, and is a constant reminder as to the fact that I DON’T HAVE IT on my Atrix. I wouldn’t be near as aggravated if motorola wouldn’t have speculated that the ota update would be in July, and here I’ve checked my phone DAILY, and still no Gingerbread. It also wouldn’t be so bad if motorola would just release an actual release date so I could stop being disappointed when I check every day only to find no update. So dear Motorola…PRETTY PRETTY PLEASE, WITH SUGAR ON TOP…please hurry up and do one or the other. Thank you!!!!
