Motorola Droid 4 Release Date and Pricing Revealed?

Published

on

Verizon announced the Motorola Droid 4 at CES 2012 without a release date or pricing leaving those that have been looking forward to getting the phone we awarded our Best Smartphone of CES 2012 scratching their heads. We’ve had a couple of leaks but it appears that we’re as close as we’ve ever been to something concrete as Droid-Life is saying that Verizon has a February 9th release date and $199 price tag planned.

Neither has been confirmed by Verizon but both make sense. Big Red is currently offering a deal on the Motorola Droid 3 that ends on February 6th and we have theorized that that end date was going to be pretty close to the Droid 4’s release date.Verizon is trying to offload as many as it can before the Droid 4’s launch.

So that’s looking pretty good.

As for the price, we’ve seen both $250 on-contract and $200 on-contract with the latter being the latest. So, it appears that Big Red will stick with that $199 price tag which should delight those of you who have your sights set on this full-QWERTY device.

And you probably should.

This is a fantastic phone and one that greatly impressed us at CES. The keyboard is one of, if not the best ever made, and it has a bunch of other features (dual-core processor, high-res screen) that make it a worthy contender.

It should also get global capabilities sometime later on this year.

So, go ahead and circle February 9th – it’s a Thursday, and Verizon loves Thursday’s, and stash away the $200 you might have to pony up in just a few days.

I sincerely hope that regardless of the pushbacks, it makes out out before the 17th of this month. My Droid Vanilla is on it’s last breath and it’s a long and painful exhale.

Hey Verizon- so you don’t want to get stuck with a bunch of Droid 3’s?  Just make it a bogo.  Release the damned Droid 4 and give away a Droid 3 with each purchase.  Problem solved.  Now give me my friggin phone already before I throw this POS blackberry I’m stuck with through one of your retail store windows!!!!

Verizon never pushed back the release date because they never announced one in the first place.  You can’t expect those “leaked” release dates to be true.  None of them came from Verizon.
