Motorola Droid Bionic Ice Cream Sandwich Update Appears Imminent

Published

on

The Motorola Droid Bionic Ice Cream Sandwich update looks like it could roll out at some point in the near future.

According to Droid-Life, Motorola has apparently sent out invites for a Motorola Droid Bionic soak test that will likely be for the device’s Ice Cream Sandwich update that was delayed beyond its Q3 release date for unknown reasons.

Motorola hasn’t flat out confirmed the soak test to be for Ice Cream Sandwich but we haven’t heard about any other updates and we’ve heard some whispering about a possible release in October. So, it’s looking like this soak test may end up being for the Droid Bionic’s missing Ice Cream Sandwich update and that means that an update could be rolling out in just a few days.

The Droid Bionic ICS update should arrive soon.

Soak tests generally take place for a few days and if everything goes smoothly, and it usually does, then update rolls out to the masses. We know that the Droid Bionic update has given Motorola and Verizon trouble so it wouldn’t be surprising to see if fail this soak test but owners should be optimistic that all of the kinds that were holding it back from being released have been worked out.

Originally, the Droid Bionic Ice Cream Sandwich update was scheduled for early Q3 which came and went without an update. Then, the update was delayed beyond Q3 and into Q4 for reasons that went unstated. We imagine that it had to do with the bugs that were and still are plaguing the Droid RAZR MAXX and Droid RAZR in Ice Cream Sandwich and Motorola needed extra time to make sure those issues didn’t come to the Droid Bionic.

The bug fix updates for both the Droid RAZR and Droid RAZR MAXX are still missing as well.

Droid Bionic owners who have been patiently waiting for the update should expect to see an ICS changelog appear on Verizon’s website in the near future and shortly thereafter, an official roll out.

Yeah, right… I’ll continue to hold my breath. This is what happened with the last soak test back in August. Then it got tossed back to Motorola because they had issues with their Verizon’s “value added” bloatware.

I was part of the last soak test and can verify that ICS ran very smooth. But the test wanted me to focus on some specific apps exclusive to vzw which did run a bit quirky. And it looks like vzw tossed moto under the bus to take the blame. heck, if it wernt for vzw bloatware, moto would have been on track with ICS for early Q3,

Wouldn’t that be a hoot if Motorola surprised everyone and the soak test turns out to be JellyBean! Wow, there will be a lot of pissed off “wish I didn’t give up my Bionic” owners out there…

So what! Another soak test and more waiting. All these Bionic owners being led on like a bunch of suckers only to receive an empty apology from some CEO who probably barely knows what the hell going on anyways. He gave everyone a political speech of apology, but didn’t offer compensation for being screwed therefore we all remain screwed. So what, $100 for a trade in? HA! What a load of crapola! This entire dilemma has been one huge joke! Moto is crap and Verizon in the end will have their way, screwing all it’s customers and taking no responsibility.
