Motorola Droid RAZR Announced: 4G LTE, 7.1mm Thin, 4.3-Inch Display

The wait is finally over for one of the major Android devices that was expected to launch today as Motorola took the stage and announced its latest 4G LTE smartphone, the Motorola Droid RAZR. This comes shortly after Motorola set up a teaser page for the device and accidentally leaked out the phone enabling the world to see its product before its official launch.

Not surprisingly, the phone announced today was the same phone we saw yesterday. A super thin 4G LTE smartphone that puts the Motorola Droid Bionic’s form factor to shame.

The Droid RAZR will be launching with a stainless steel core, a Kevlar back, and a splash guard screen which makes it an extremely durable device, perfect for those of you who enjoy dropping your phone.

It’ll also have a 4.3-inch Super AMOLED display with advanced qHD resolution, a 1.2GHz dual-core processor, 1800mah battery, mobile hotspot support, 1GB of RAM, a rear camera capable of shooting 1080p video, and it’s coming with a form factor that is only 7.1mm thin making it the thinnest smartphone in the world. You’ll also be able to sync up the Droid RAZR to the MotoACTV in order to get texts and what not on the fly.

It also has 12.5 hours of talk time opposed to 6.5 for the Droid Charge and 9.2 hours on the HTC ThunderBolt.

The Droid RAZR will also have webtop support, similar to that of the Droid Bionic.

Unfortunately, it’ll be powered by Android 2.3.5 Gingerbread out of the box which means the Galaxy Nexus, which just leaked out itself ahead of launch, will indeed be the first device with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich.

Pre-orders for the RAZR start October 27th and it will go on sale in November (in both the U.S. and worldwide) for $299.

What do you think folks?

Can this top the Galaxy Nexus?

it looks like a beautiful phone, but $300? seriously?

I’ll just wait a month for the price drops.

I want to know which GPU it has in it.  It seems no one phone is the total package that will dominate all other phones.  They all have their strong points and weak points.  I think this phone would be my second choice behind the Galaxy Nexus.  The Galaxy Nexus seems to have rather disappointing specs like the GPU, hopefully the cameras will be a lot better than those on previous Nexus phones and is 11.1 mm thick at it’s thickest point compared to how slim this phone is at 7.1 mm.  Looks like I will be able to select from the Nexus, Rezound and Razr.  I feel sorry for those who bought the Bionic, while a good phone, certainly doesn’t measure up to any of these phones.

I haven’t seen a battery size for the Razr either. they spoke of awesome battery life. did I just miss it?

and that 7.1 thickness was obviously not at the camera hump.

Good point concerning the thickness.  The battery is supposedly 1780 MAH which is pretty good considering the thickness of this phone.

on engadget there’s a picture comparison of the Razr, iPhone 4s and of Droid. worth the look.
