Motorola’s MOTOLUXE Hands-On Video

Though Motorola’s latest MOTOLUXE handset won’t be targeted at the U.S. market, we did get a chance to catch up with the company’s mid-range offering, which we’re hearing will retail for about $400 without a contract. Unlike Motorola’s super slim Droid RAZR or dual-core powerhouses like the Droid Bionic, the MOTOLUXE offers more pedestrian hardware specs, but still provides for an elegant design that’s pleasing to look at.

The phone comes with a more compact 4-inch screen with an FWVGA resolution, so it’s not the highest resolution smartphone by today’s high-end specs, but the display does render images and text crisply. The phone has an 800 MHz CPU along with an 8-megapixel rear camera and half a gig of RAM. There’s also a front-facing camera and the MOTOLUXE comes with Android 2.3 Gingerbread.

Motorola did add a custom social contact widget that will help you keep in touch with the contacts you talk with most. The widget will populate itself with an array of various sized pictures of the contacts you talk to most to help make you communicate with those who are important to you. Another interesting feature is a notification light, which is in a bar on the lower left corner. The elongated light can also be a place where users can attach a lanyard if they so choose.
