New iPad Mini Renders Are Detailed, Gorgeous

Published

on

The iPad Mini has surfaced in some gorgeous, detailed renders today giving consumers a possible look at what to expect from Apple’s rumored 7-inch tablet.

Nickolay Lamm from InventHelp, by way of Gizmodo, has released some great looking renders of the iPad Mini based on the device’s rumored specifications.

The mockup here shows what an iPad, with a 7.85-inch display, could look like. It incorporates the device’s supposedly thin bezel and it also shows off the new dock connector that appeared in our exclusive iPad Mini engineering photos.

This could resemble the real iPad Mini.

Lamm also gives consumers a look at what the iPad Mini could look like compared to the regular old 9.7-inch iPad. Our engineering samples seemed to indicate that the device would be about two-thirds of the size of the regular iPad and these renders seem to show that off quite well.

The render also has a similar back to the new iPad which would make it fit right in with the rest of Apple’s iOS lineup.

Details about Apple’s iPad Mini remain scarce. We’ve heard about the screen size on numerous occasions and the design is rumored to be similar to that of an iPod touch with a thin bezel, separate volume buttons instead of a volume rocker and a microphone situated on the device’s backside.

Other details remain murky at best.

We’ve heard that Apple may be planning to sell the device at a price anywhere between $200 and $300 to compete with the Kindle Fire and Nexus 7 tablets. We’ve also heard that it may or may not include cameras. Apple might be leaving a camera off of the device in order to keep the cost of the device low.

Rumors also peg Apple as releasing a model with 4G LTE data speeds though we have yet to see anything credible pop up, pointing at that as a possibility.

So, thus far, the iPad Mini remains a bunch of smoke and mirrors.

iPad Mini Release Date

Unfortunately, we may not know about the details of the iPad Mini until October. While the iPad Mini was originally rumored for launch alongside the iPhone 5 on September 12th, it’s now rumored to be coming during Apple’s annual music event in October.

It may be that Apple announces the device is late October and releases it at some point in November to position itself nicely in time for the holidays.

Of course, at this point, all of that is just pure speculation.

Nice write up! While I have no interest in a camera on an iPad, I’d really like a rear-facing on the iPad mini. Hope they add it– it could make the difference between a buy and a no buy. Of course, it’s too late to let Apple know that.

Oh, well. They’ll probably pull an iPod Touch nasty on us– no camera first gen, poor camera 2nd gen, and ?? 3rd gen. Too long to wait!

It must have a camera and be 3G or 4G for me to buy – otherwise I’m not interested.
