Nexus 5 & Android 4.4 KitKat Update Spotted Together

Published

on

Google is heavily rumored to be hosting a Nexus 5 and Android 4.4 KitKat launch event sometime in October, possibly on October 14th. And while those two products have yet to be officially announced, they appear to have been spotted once again, this time together, in a log file that reveals some new details about both.

For several weeks now, Nexus 5 and Android 4.4 KitKat rumors have been heating up ahead of their eventual arrival sometime later this year. Neither is confirmed of course but Android 4.4 KitKat is official, it was announced earlier this month, and the Nexus 5 from LG has leaked out numerous times confirming its existence.

Thanks to those details, and the fact that Google discontinued the LG Nexus 4, it’s clear that the Nexus 5 and Android 4.4 KitKat launch is imminent with a possible date of October 14th.

Those who need more proof can only look at log files discovered by Myce which show Android 4.4 KitKat, referenced as Key Lime Pie here, running on a device known as “Hammerhead,” a code name that is thought to be for the LG D820, also known as the LG Nexus 5.

The name Nexus 5 has emerged as well.

In addition to showing that Android 4.4 KitKat will likely be on board the Nexus 5, the log files also show that the device is running on T-Mobile’s network, that it has surfaced as both the “Nexus 5” and the “Nexus 4,” has some sort of Sprint menu, has a host of sensors including Magnetometer, Gyroscope, Barometer, and that it should have wireless charging on board.

There is also mention of Google Babel, a messaging platform that Google has been rumored to be working on, and something that could come with Android 4.4 KitKat.

Of course, none of these details will be confirmed until Google announces both the Nexus 5 and the Android 4.4 KitKat but at this point, given the evidence, they are looking all but confirmed.

Google is thought to be working on at least one Nexus smartphone, from LG, that is thought to have a near-5-inch 1080p display, Snapdragon 800 processor, 13MP camera, and a design that features a back similar to the Nexus 7 from Asus.

Android 4.4 KitKat is expected to touchdown with a new Nexus 5.

As for Android 4.4 KitKat, it’s rumored to be coming with updates for older devices, fragmentation changes including screen resizing, Miracast updates, color changes and new notification widgets.

The new Nexus will replace the Nexus 4 as the company’s go-to Nexus smartphone on the Google Play Store while the Android 4.4 KitKat update will replace Android 4.3 Jelly Bean which arrived alongside the Nexus 7 in July.

I think Android 4.4 will be much better than previous version; and this news is far much better than release if Nexus 5

I stopped reading after you said neither was confirmed, then neither product was confirmed, but android 4.4 was announced.

…what? (And yes, 4.4 is confirmed/announced. Look! It even has its own website! Android.com/kitkat/ )

I’m still at 4.1 on Note 2. Where is THAT update? Since the update to 4.1 my Note 2 keyboard is very laggy. When I want to type a text, email, etc, the keyboard can take up to 10 seconds to display. I’ve done all of the troubleshooting except factory reset, and have uninstalled a lot. Even the Samsung employee at Best Buy couldn’t do anything, nor the phone tech folks. Any ideas?

I know it’s a pain to have to, but: Look up Greenify in the Play store. Completely and utterly brilliant.

Also, root the damn thing and update to 4.3 yourself. Again, I know it’s a pain to have to, but as Samsung’s being slack (this is a Samsung problem, not a Google problem) it’s the pragmatic solution.

With all of the tablets and phones I’ve had, I’ve never rooted anything. I don’t have a computer and I think you need to have one to root.

Google how to root note 2 without a PC. You install an apk and open it and it roots for you in 5 seconds. Then install twrp from goomanager and then download and install cm10.2. Everything will take less than 10 minutes. Then sit back and enjoy the best experience you will ever have on your device

That’s the main reason I’ve stayed with Nexus even though other phones, the note 2 / 3, look great. I for one refuse to be left out of the update loop & since I’ve already received 3 updates this year I’m glad I’ve stayed with Nexus.

This is TORTURE, but I’m committed to waiting 3 wks hoping the Nexus 5 is available on the new Android OS release date (Oct 14). I can’t wait to get a super powerful Android phone that’s unlocked for use with my unlimited data plan (I only pay $29/mo, too! … and soon will have completely free service!) Where’s your stupid Motorola Nexus now, Adam? Glad you wrote at least one Nexus 5 article without mentioning that ridiculous rumor from idiot Taylor Wimberly.

That’s a little to harsh don’t u think. None of us is 100% right all the time and in their biz they are only as good as the rumor an inside source dish out to them. In the case of Taylor Wimberly he was on point with the Moto X, though maybe not this time with the next Nexus phone. But there is a rumored Motorola device with cellphone dimensions said to come with two huge battery capacity options ( i think 1960mAh and 4410mAh)…so we don’t know what Google or Motorola might be planning.
