Nexus 5 Leaks Non-Stop as Release Date Nears

Published

on

Nexus 5 leaks continue to flow, even as the Nexus 5, its launch date and its release date remain unconfirmed with Google apparently content to let rumors run their course ahead of its upcoming debut alongside Android 4.4 KitKat, the update that Google announced at the beginning of September.

For the last few weeks, Nexus 5 leaks have been rampant with the device making apperances in official renders, in videos and even on Google’s very own Google Play Store. And yet, Google remains silent about the Nexus 5, Android 4.4 KitKat and a possible Asus Nexus 10 tablet to replace Samsung’s current Nexus 10 variant.

Over the weekend, we learned that November 1st might be the target date for the Nexus 5 and quite possibly, Android 4.4 KitKat. That date remains unconfirmed but we did see what appears to be the Nexus 7 Android 4.4 KitKat update appear in a certification for the Nexus 7 2013, a sign that a release could be very close to arrival.

Today, evleaks is back with another Nexus 5 leak, this one from the inventory of a big name retailer, a sign that retailers are gearing up for the Nexus 5’s arrival and a sign that we could see a larger launch than the Nexus 4 which at the start, was limited to the Google Play Store and T-Mobile in the United States. The retailer’s listing once again confirms white and black variants of the Nexus 5 and it also uses the Nexus 5 name, the same name that appeared on Google’s Play Store just a few short days ago.

The leak also shows a Nexus 4 though it’s unclear if the device will remain in stock once the Nexus 5 goes live. There have been rumors suggesting that Google will keep it around, but that remains unconfirmed.

A similar leak has appeared over at Android Police who claims that Cellphone Warehouse will have 3000 units in stock for release day. Tweakers, a Dutch site, claimed that the Nexus 5 would arrive on Wednesday in the Netherlands, though it has since updated its story saying that the retailer could not confirm the date and was forced to take the page down.

A user on reddit has also posted details from a purported Nexus 5 service manual that seems to confirm a ton of smaller components of the Nexus 5 including the CPU, radio and LTE radio.

These leaks are just the latest in a long line of Nexus 5 leaks that have surfaced in recent days. Already, consumers know what the Nexus 5 looks like, what kind of hardware it will have on board, the type of software it will be running, the carriers it will be heading to and how much Google will be charging for it. We have even seen Nexus 5 cases emerge ahead of launch.

All that is left is an announcement and a confirmed release date and from the looks of things, November 1st is looking like it could deliver one of those. The Nexus 5 is expected to feature a 5-inch 1080p display, Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor, 8MP camera with OIS and a sleek design that appears to borrow from the Nexus 7 tablet.

It’s also expected to be joined by Android 4.4 KitKat, which could roll out for other devices in the near future, and a Nexus 10 tablet from Asus that could deliver powerful specs to compete with the iPad Air from Apple.

Its complete BS. Notice the white N4 and white N5? also last year they reported stock of white N4s 3 weeks before launch. AP is just fabricating news like usual.

Nexus 4 seems too big to hold in hand and still Nexus 5 is wider, longer and thicker. I like they got rid of the back glass. It made the phone slide of and fall all the time, but another major thing I don’t like is the power/unlock button, still left on the side. It’s hard to find in the dark, especially that the phone is symmetric. I like the Iphone and Galaxy S4 because the button is on the front.

Actually, the nexus 5 is smaller, bigger screen, less bezel.
