Nexus 6 Release Continues for More Buyers

Published

on

Google’s brand new Nexus 6 smartphone was announced back on October 15th and went up for pre-order at the end of the month, but for those outside of the United States the details have been scarce, to say the least. Yesterday though, Google confirmed more details and revealed 12 new regions will get the Nexus 6 extremely soon.

This week pre-orders opened up again and quickly sold out on the Google Play Store, and even Motorola started offering pre-orders, but those were all for the US only. The Nexus 6 actually went up for pre-order back on October 29th from the Google Play Store, and sold out in less than 2-3 minutes by our count. Many were frustrated with the situation, but at least they had a chance. Today though we’re learning 12 more regions are up next.

Nexus 6 release date details for anywhere outside of the US have been a complete mystery, with nothing more than a few rumors and one UK retailer promising pre-orders to open around November 17th. Google’s own site though, just confirmed more information for interested buyers. Read on for more details.

Google’s Nexus 6 support page was updated yesterday to include 12 new regions that will receive the Nexus 6. At the same time, we saw the Nexus 6 appear on the Google Play Store for all twelve regions as well, although none are actually available to buy.

Soon, the Nexus 6 will be available for sale in Australia, Belgium, Canada, France, Germany, India, Italy, Japan, Netherlands, Spain, Sweden, and the United Kingdom. All joining the United States in offering the impressive new flagship phablet, or smartphone.

The new handset isn’t available to pre-order in these new regions yet, and the Google Play Store simply has each option listed as “coming soon” similar to what was shown on the US page before the pre-order date back on October 29th.

Sadly Google still hasn’t shared any release details, and there’s no information regarding when pre-orders in those 12 new regions will actually start. Google’s pre-order system was a mess in the US last month, and they’ve promised to add more stock every Wednesday until the smartphone officially launches.

Maybe stock has been low as they prepare to launch pre-orders in these other regions, but we can’t be sure. This may hurt US buyers chances of getting the phone, but hopefully enough stock is made soon enough, and everyone who wants to order the new Nexus 6 can.

It’s worth noting the Nexus 6 is also the first Nexus smartphone that will be available on all five major carriers in the United States. Starting with T-Mobile on November 12th, then arriving on Sprint, AT&T, US Cellular, and even Verizon all before years end.

Google’s confirmed all carriers but Verizon will have it available “by the end of November” so more details and release information should arrive soon. This is great news for all consumers but those on Verizon, as they’re still the odd man out with no release date details of any kind.

The majority of the stock is likely headed to carrier stores, where the phone should retail for $199 or $249 on contract, as we’re not expecting too many buyers to shell out the full retail $649 asking price like the Google Play Store. We’ll update as soon as we know more, and as carriers confirm pricing, release dates, and availability.

I think that this article is a little over reacting this whole EDGE phone. There is nothing wrong with the size for those people who are in this market category…..
