Nexus 6P Release: 5 Things You Need to Know

The Nexus 6P isn't made by Samsung, or Google, or LG like the Nexus 4, Nexus 5, and Nexus 5X. It's made by the Chinese manufacturer Huawei. This is the first Nexus to be made by a Chinese smartphone company, but it's arguably the best smartphone around right now.

As we mentioned above, it's completely sold out from the Google Store, but that isn't the only way to get one. While the Nexus 5X and 6P works on all carriers in the United States, none are selling it. It's only available right from Google, overpriced on eBay, or you can buy it from Huawei themselves.

For the same price as Google is asking, the Nexus 6P in all three storage options, and two colors, is available from the Huawei Store.

Previously Huawei Store didn't have the 128GB version, but this morning the site was updated and added it to the inventory list. The Nexus 6P in either color and 32 or 64GB of storage will ship in "early November" but those who opt for the 128GB model will see a "late November" shipping estimate.

This means you can get one now from Huawei and have it arrive in early November, or if you need the 128GB option buy it from them, or hope Google adds more inventory on the Google Store. This was somewhat expected, so hopefully most who wanted one were able to pre-order and have a Nexus 6P coming soon.

Hopefully this doesn't turn in to past Nexus launches, where it takes 2-3 months for users to get their hands on it, and we'll update as soon as we know more and continue to monitor the situation.

Checking on the google play store today, 10/21, the Aluminium 32gb, and Frost 128gb are no longer shown as “Out of stock”.

If you go to the Play Store instead of the Google Store, click on the gear and go to My Account, you can see your actual estimated shipping date instead of a range of delivery dates. The Google Store says delivery November 5-9 for me, the Play Store says it’s leaving the warehouse by November 2. They beat their estimates in both places when they shipped my Project Fi SIM, so they should hopefully at least meet them with the phone.
