Nexus 7 2 Release Date, Price Hike Outed By Best Buy

Google is likely gearing up to announce its new Nexus 7 2 this week in San Francisco and while the device remains unofficial, the Nexus 7 2 release date and pricing seem to have been nailed down thanks to leaked documents from third party retailers.

The Nexus 7 2 rumor mill has been hard at work for months and while the older rumors dealt with the device’s launch and its specifications, the newer ones are now pinpointing the most pertinent details, the Nexus 7 2 release date and price.

The Nexus 7 2 release is rumored for the end of July.

Last week, we saw Nexus 7 2 details emerge pointing to an increased price and a release date at the end of July. It appears that both of those will more than likely be the real deal as a Best Buy flyer, leaked by PhoneArena, shows off a new Nexus 7 with a release date of July 30th and a price of $229 on board. July 30th is different from the July 31st release date we heard about before, though it falls in the same area. This is now the second time we’ve seen $229 emerge and that appears to be the Nexus 7 2’s starting price point.

If that information is correct, then it appears that Google is planning to announce the device and release it shortly thereafter, much like it has done with its previous Nexus devices. However, instead of a few weeks, it’s looking like the Nexus 7 2 could be out within just a few days of its launch.

The $230 price, if real, would represent a $30 increase from the $199 Nexus 7 and would also put the Nexus 7 2 at a price that is $100 cheaper than Apple’s iPad mini which starts at $330. The 32GB Nexus 7 2 is rumored to cost $280, also a $30 increase from its usual $250 price. It’s unclear just how much Google will be charging for the LTE versions of the Nexus 7 2 that are expected to arrive.

Google’s Nexus 7 2 is thought to have a 7-inch display with 1920 x 1200 resolution, 5MP camera, quad-core processor, LTE speeds, and the new Android 4.3 Jelly Bean that is expected to make its arrival alongside the new Nexus 7 hardware next week.

From the looks of things, it appears that the Nexus 7 2 may ultimately wind up being called the Nexus 7 again, despite the upgrades to its hardware and increase in price.

It’s funny how the people who write these articles always make that mistake. You would think that being a tech journalist you would know that it’s 1920×1200 but they are used to seeing 1920×1080 and get it mixed up. I say they are showing they don’t truely follow tech. If they did that mistake would never happen.

I’m really interested in seeing what all will appear in these for the price. I’ve also seen that Staples leak that indicates inductive charging. While all the stuff rumored to be crammed into this tablet, I’d be very surprised if I can get all that is rumored, for less than $400….and I’m ok with that. lol
