Nexus 7 Dock Release Date Pushed Again

Published

on

The Nexus 7 dock release date, which just a day ago was thought to be between January 6th and January 10th, has now slipped to January 16th at at least one third-party retailer leaving potential buyers wondering when the postponements will stop.

Earlier this week, B&H Photo, one of the few retailers that currently has the long awaited Asus Nexus 7 dock listed on its site, postponed the expected availability of the device to January 10th. Now, the retailer has pushed the expected availability of the Nexus 7 dock to January 16th, a blow to those that were hoping to get the long-awaited accessory in early January.

The other retail that is offering it, ExcaliberPC, is still taking pre-orders for the device and it still lists its ETA as January 6th.  However, given that B&H Photo had to push back its ETA, it could be that it too has to delay the official Nexus 7 dock to a later date.

The Nexus 7 official dock has seen its availability get pushed back even further.

Both retail sites are still charging potential customers $39.99 for the Nexus 7 dock though now, it’s unclear just how soon the accessory may arrive.

A recent report indicated that the Nexus 7 dock would hit Europe at some point in the middle of the month, so it could be that U.S. retailers are going to fall in line with that timing but neither they, nor Google, have confirmed anything yet.

It could be that the Nexus 7 dock will, at some point, arrive in the Google Play Store, but as we’ve pointed out users may have better luck purchasing from third-party retailers, especially since there appears to be no mark up.

As we’ve seen, Google is having a difficult time keeping its Nexus products, the Nexus 4, Nexus 7 and Nexus 10 included, available to buy in its Google Play Store and the accessories, at least for the Nexus 4 have been no different.

The Nexus 4 bumper case has been sold out for several weeks now and the Nexus 4 Wireless Charging Orb that we saw debut alongside the new Nexus devices back in November still hasn’t made it to shelves.

Unfortunately, the Nexus 7 dock doesn’t seem to have escaped a cruel fate either.

No surprises here – Google clearly couldn’t organize a lemonade stall at a school fair as that would require them to procure lemons, sugar, paper cups, ice, have a place to keep the ice and the lemonade cold, a float to enable them to give change, and a table and a sign to promote the stall. Clearly Google can only supply lemonade but in limited quantities. You need to bring your own cup and ice and provide the exact amount of cash as they don’t have a float. And we’re not mentioning the missing table/retail distribution chain!
