Nexus 7 Dock Remains Out of Stock

Published

on

The Nexus 7 is still in stock after Google neglected to offer a Nexus 7 2 at Google I/O yesterday but that doesn’t mean everything is well in the land of Nexus. In fact, the Nexus 7 dock has been sold out on the Google Play Store for a number of days now with no relief in sight.

Google was heavily rumored to be introducing a new Nexus 7 at Google I/O 2013. However, its keynote came and went without an announcement, leaving consumers without a clue as to when the device will arrive. What this means is that for at least the next little while, the Nexus 7 will be the only 7-inch tablet available on Google Play.

And available it is, with Google promising to ship out the tablet within just a few days of ordering. Yet, not everything is good with the Nexus 7. While it remains on sale and in stock, one of its key accessories remains out of stock and has been that way for quite some time.

The Nexus 7 dock, which went on sale in the Google Play Store long after the actual arrival of the Nexus 7 has been out of stock since at least May 9th, with Google’s Play Store listing the accessory as temporarily out of stock. Those seeking the dock are told to check back for inventory soon. Unfortunately, it’s not clear how soon stock is going to be arriving.

We know that the accessory has been out of stock since at least May 9th and it’s possible that it has been out of stock for even longer than that. It’s not likely to have been discontinued but as we saw with one of the Nexus 7’s cases, which was abruptly canceled, anything is possible.

The absence of the dock means that those looking for it for their Nexus 7 are going to have to go through other retailers in order to find it. Typically, they charge more than Google’s asking price of $29.99, making the Google Play Store the ideal locale for shoppers.

Google did not respond to comments about the dock’s whereabouts which means that a return is up in the air, much as the arrival of a Nexus 7 2 release is up in the air.

Bought mine at London Drugs, for 10 bucks more that the price on Play, but I figured after tax and shipping I saved about 15 bucks.

Bought three from B&H Photo for $34.95, no tax/no shipping… Sporadic but they often do have them. Love it, incidentally; great product to use the Daydream feature with.
