NFL Preseason Live for Android Tablets Fails More than the Dolphins

Published

on

I was shocked to discover that the NFL delivered a feature rich iPad app capable of streaming the 2012 NFL Preseason live to the iPad at a reasonable price, but I was even more shocked to discover the NFL also offers the NFL Preseason Live android app for the Nexus 7.

My surprise stopped as soon as I tried to use the Android app.

The iPad app runs great and shows real polish, like the Green Bay Packers. The Android App feels a lot more like watching the Miami Dolphins or Oakland Raiders play.

Which is to say everything looks good until it comes time to take the field and execute.

The NFL Preseason Live app for Android tablets claims to offer live streaming of NFL preseason games to tablets including the Nexus 7.

The NFL Preseason Live Android tablet error -38

The NFL Preseason Live Android tablet app calls play error -38 often.

During my testing of the app, I was able to stream a grand total of 3 minutes, which is coincidentally about how long my favorite team, the Miami Dolphins, seem to show up for per game.

When trying to stream NFL Preseason games on the Nexus 7, the app wouldn’t play most videos, providing an error code 38 or error code 100. When this happens the video simply doesn’t play. There is no help for the errors on the NFL site, leaving Android users with no recourse.

I’m not alone. Feedback for the NFL Preseason Live for Android tablets is overwhelmingly negative. The average rating is 1.3 out of 5 stars, with 51 1-star reviews.

NFL Preseason Live Android Tablets Fail

The NFL Preseason Live Android tablet app doesn’t work for many users.

It’s one thing to point to app piracy as a reason developers don’t support Android and why Android apps often feel like second-rate versions of iPad and iPhone apps, but in this case the NFL doesn’t have to worry about piracy.

Which begs the question. Why is the NFL Live Preseason app failing in all manners while the iPad version is a glimpse at the way NFL football apps and coverage should be?

And people say we copy Apple?! We pay the app devs to make our apps so shitty that we can prove that there is no way our devices are mistaken for theirs!!!!!!! ~ Samsung

Maybe the short operation is a feature made for Dolphins fans.
