Nokia Lumia 929 Fully Detailed in New Leaks

While Nokia didn’t show any new smartphones that users on Verizon could get excited about during its Nokia World event this past month, leaks of the Nokia Lumia 929 indicate that the company definitely has something up its sleeve for users on the United States’ largest mobile carrier.

WPCentral has gotten their hands on a treasure trove of information concerning the Lumia 929. According to the outlet’s information, the Lumia 929 is just as powerful as the upcoming Lumia 1520 phablet that the company announced at Nokia World. Instead of its 6-inch display, the Lumia 929 features a more modest 1080p 5-inch AMOLED display. While Nokia has opted for a smaller screen, it hasn’t opted for a less powerful processor. Allegedly, the Lumia 929 includes the same 2.2 GHz quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor that is included in Nokia’s phablet and other flagship smartphones like the LG G2.

It’s not just processing that is getting an update either, the Nokia Lumia 929 will allow users to take photos with a 20 megapixel rear-facing camera outfitted with the company’s PureView imaging technology. It’ll also include a front-facing camera as well however, the outlet didn’t share any information about its resolution. Users can expect NFC, Wi-Fi and support for the Bluetooth 4.0 LE standard that allows smartphones to communicate with smartwatches and other accessories without significantly lowering battery life too.

Users upgrading from the Lumia 928, Verizon’s current flagship Nokia Windows Phone, can expect the device to work with the wireless charging accessories they already have. That’s because the Lumia 929 supports the QI wireless charging standard on its own. That’s in contrast to AT&T’s Nokia Lumia devices which are stripped of built-in charging functionality so that AT&T can better position its own competing wireless charging standard.

As software goes, the Nokia Lumia 929 doesn’t pack any surprises if these reports are indicative of what users will see when the phone launches. WPCentral notes that the device comes with the Lumia Black, and Windows Phone Update 3 software installed. It’s these updates that allow for its extra row of live tiles and new Glance screen options. The device also feature apps native to all Verizon Windows Phones including Verizon Tones, VZ Navigator, My Verizon and My Verizon Mobile.

Unfortunately, launch timing is the only thing we don’t yet know about the Nokia Lumia 929. Today’s report indicates that black and white versions of the Lumia 929 with 32GB of on-board storage are in carrier testing at Verizon. Allegedly, a release could come as soon as Thanksgiving or as late as next year.
