New Galaxy Note 4 Lollipop Release Details Confirmed

New Samsung Galaxy Note 4 Lollipop release details have been confirmed as the Galaxy Note 4 Lollipop update continues to make solid progress inside the United States.

In February, Samsung started rolling out its Galaxy Note 4 Lollipop update. The update, which followed updates for a number of other flagships, delivered a host of new features including changes to the lock screen and Google’s new Material Design. The Android 5.0 Lollipop update represents the Galaxy Note 4’s first major Android update and naturally, users have their eyes fixated on the roll out.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 4 Lollipop roll out has been slow and steady since February. While it has landed for a number of different carriers and regions, there are still plenty of people that remain on Android 4.4.4 KitKat. As we push deeper into April, we’re starting to see more Galaxy Note 4 Lollipop details emerge and today, we’ve discovered two new Galaxy Note 4 Lollipop details for users in the United States.

Verizon Galaxy Note 4 Lollipop Update Review - 4

Today, T-Mobile updated its Android release page to reflect a big change for its Galaxy Note 4 Lollipop update. The update has now moved from the Manufacturer Development phase to internal testing at T-Mobile which means that it should only be a matter of time before the update rolls out to users across the country.

T-Mobile doesn’t say how long the internal testing process will take which means that the Galaxy Note 4 Lollipop release date is still extremely unpredictable. It could take place tomorrow or it could take place weeks from now. Everything depends on how well the update performs in testing. That said, this is a big step for one of the remaining Galaxy Note 4 Lollipop updates in the United States.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 4 Lollipop update has reached users on AT&T, Sprint and Verizon but it’s still missing for the T-Mobile and U.S. Cellular variants. U.S. Cellular hasn’t confirmed plans to release an upgrade though it will almost certainly issue Lollipop to its current flagship.

AT&T’s also confirmed the start of its Galaxy Note Edge Lollipop roll out. The update will apparently start rolling out today though details about the update are still scarce. The carrier hasn’t posted any details to its website either which means that the update remains a mystery, at least for now. (It’s also possible that this rep is wrong but he does call the Galaxy Note Edge out by name.)

AT&T is the second carrier to confirm a Galaxy Note Edge Lollipop release though it would be the first to actually release one. T-Mobile’s also confirmed a Galaxy Note Edge Lollipop release but it still hasn’t moved into the internal testing phase. What this means is that we could still be weeks away from a roll out.

Samsung’s Galaxy Note 4 Lollipop update isn’t the only Lollipop update making progress. Samsung’s other major Lollipop updates for the Galaxy Note Edge, Galaxy S5, Galaxy Note 3, and Galaxy S4 continue to make progress around the world as we push deeper into the year and further away from their initial release dates.

None of these updates are going to finish overnight though. The company still has a long way to go before it gets its Android 5.0 Lollipop updates rolled out to its key flagship smartphones. Historically, the company’s needed six months or more to complete its roll outs and it looks like Android 5.0 Lollipop will follow that pattern.

Samsung has reportedly not started work on the Android 5.1 Lollipop update which means that for the foreseeable future, these devices will be upgraded with either Android 5.0.1 Lollipop or Android 5.0.2 Lollipop. US carriers will almost certainly roll out bug fix updates throughout the year as well so stay tuned.
