Samsung Galaxy Note 4 Release Drags On in U.S.

Published

on

The Samsung Galaxy Note 4 release drags on in the United States as stock continues to fluctuate at major retailers and new models continue to emerge days after the initial Galaxy Note 4 release date.

Samsung’s all new Galaxy Note 4 is an impressive smartphone and one that comes loaded with high-powered specs including a 5.7-inch Quad HD display, a brand new 16MP camera with Optical Image Stabilization, a new S Pen stylus, Android 4.4.4 KitKat software that’s backed by TouchWiz, and a brand new design that comes with both plastic and metal materials.

The Galaxy Note 4 has replaced the Galaxy Note 3 in several regions this month including the United States where it landed on the nation’s five largest carriers which include AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile, U.S. Cellular, and Verizon Wireless. In the U.S., the Galaxy Note 4 release date continues to drag on as devices continue to move in and out of stock.

Samsung’s Galaxy Note 4 release has seen its fair share of struggles in the United States including sell outs and unexplained delays. The Verizon Galaxy Note 4, for instance, still hasn’t been fully released to the public and the white Verizon Galaxy Note 4 isn’t set to arrive until Halloween, two weeks after its rivals and a week after the black Verizon Galaxy Note 4 release.

The device is also exhibiting stock issues at multiple retailers including Amazon and Best Buy. At Amazon, the white Verizon Galaxy Note 4 and in recent days, both the white and black Sprint Galaxy Note 4 models have gone out of stock. The black Sprint Galaxy Note 4 is still on sale though it’s back ordered into November. The white Sprint Galaxy Note 4 is listed as temporarily out of stock. This is not common. Amazon almost never sells out of mass produced Samsung Galaxy smartphones. Amazon isn’t the only retailer having problems though.

Best Buy is currently showing uneven Galaxy Note 4 stock on its website. The retailer is currently sold out of three of the six models that it offers with another listed as “in-store only.” Only the white AT&T Galaxy Note 4 and black Sprint Galaxy Note 4 are available online. This isn’t unprecedented but it’s certainly unusual.

Despite these ongoing Galaxy Note 4 release date problems, Samsung continues to release Galaxy Note 4 models. Today, the company put the Verizon Galaxy Note 4 Developer Edition on sale for the first time. The device, which comes with an unlocked bootloader, will cost consumers $699. That’s the same price as the regular, off-contract Verizon Galaxy Note 4.

Samsung’s planning an ambitious fall release that not only includes the Galaxy Note 4 but the Galaxy Note Edge as well. The Samsung Galaxy Note Edge is the company’s curved version of the Galaxy Note 4 and a device that’s experiencing some production delays of its own.

While the black Galaxy Note Edge is available on Japanese carriers KDDI and NTT DoCoMo, the white Galaxy Note Edge models are delayed into November. Samsung, it seems, needed more time to get the shade out from its production lines.

The Galaxy Note Edge won’t be as common as the Galaxy Note 4. The device, which has hit Korea and Japan, is currently slated to hit the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, India, Australia, Russia, and China. The Galaxy Note 4, on the other hand, is set to hit 140 countries by the end of October with a few stragglers releasing the device in November.

It’s not clear how these Galaxy Note Edge and Galaxy Note 4 stock issues will impact nations where the devices have yet to be released but with only a few weeks to go before the end of the year, we should get a glimpse in the not so distant future. Look for Galaxy Note 4 release date problems to get ironed out as we move further away from its initial release.

I placed an order for the white one a week ago at the T-Mobile store and it’s still on backorder. I’m so frustrated but anxiously waiting.
