The Tegra Note 7 Android tablet may not be a household name, even with stunning specs and being an impressive overall tablet, but the latest addition this week just announced by NVIDIA could pressure the competition.

Last year NVIDIA announced the new Tegra Note 7 tablet running the company’s latest flagship quad-core Tegra 4 processor and Android 4.2 Jelly Bean, aimed at gamers and multi-taskers previously using Google’s popular Nexus 7 tablet. With an awesome $199 price tag it has plenty of potential, and now will sport 4G LTE connectivity all while still undercutting the new Nexus 7 LTE in price.

Tegra-Note

The Tegra Note 7 tablet platform is sold in the US by eVGA, a popular NVIDIA graphics card manufacturer, and this week they’ve also just pushed the absolute latest Android 4.4.2 KitKat software update to the tablet.

Combining Android 4.4 and 4G LTE, the Tegra Note 7 is perfect for those seeking an alternative to the iPad Mini or Nexus 7, all for a lower price. Coming in with a 7-inch 1280 x 800 resolution display it isn’t 1080p like the Nexus 7, but delivers excellent Android and gaming performance with a quad-core Tegra 4 processor with 1GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage, and a micro-SD slot for storage expansion.

Then taking on HTC and Samsung NVIDIA offers a built-in stylus for note taking and drawing applications to create content as shown above, and front facing stereo speakers for stunning sound while gaming or viewing HD video. To round it out we have a 5 megapixel rear camera, and HDMI-out to stream content and HD games to the big screen.

Today’s announcement from NVIDIA revealed the same tablet with integrated 4G LTE for AT&T and T-Mobile in the US, all for just $299. Offering the same tablet, now with Android 4.4.2 KitKat, for $50 less than the LTE Nexus 7.

However, NVIDIA wasn’t ready to announce an actual release date, and only delivered pricing and device details. They did mention a Q2 launch, so sometime after March, and we’ll update with additional details once provided.

I just bought this tablet (wifi model) last week. It is a beast. Blows the Nexus 7 2013 away IMO. I hate that the N7 is still getting recommended with it’s horrible multi-touch issues. I returned my N7 2013 after only a few days and finding out how wide spread the issue was, and it is still going on! Was very much regretting getting rid of my N7 2012 at that point, so glad I discovered this tablet. Can’t wait to get 4.4 installed on it, had no idea it was released.

The screen on this tablet is actually very nice. It might not be 1080p+, but it’s still very sharp and 720p is just fine on a 7″ tablet IMO. Front camera sucks, but I never use it. And to note it actually only has 1GB of RAM, but I’ve not noticed any slowdowns, lag, or hiccups. Having the SD card is a big plus to me, and it works just fine with 64GB cards. The stylus is great, but I do miss the hover actions of an active digitizer like my Note 3.

I still go for Nexus 7 whether Tegra is $50 cheaper as quality also matters a lot for me apart from features like 1GB RAM, 16GB internal storage but if the device will fail to give enough battery backup then it is useless and my Nexus 5 also support wireless charging, so does Nexus 7 which is new way to charge the Smartphone simultaneously.
