“Failing” NY Times Offers Free Spotify with Subscription

Do you love music and want to get the latest news from a reliable source? The new Spotify NY Times subscription deal delivers a free Spotify Premium subscription with the purchase of an All-Access NY Times subscription.

The new NY Times subscription plan targets younger readers and comes as President Trump often tweets about the “Failing @NYTimes,” which caused it’s own spike in NY Times subscriptions.

Whatever your politics, this new offer boils down to $5 a week for a NY Times All Access subscription and Spotify Premium. This is only available to new subscribers, though it’s not immediately clear if you need to be a new subscriber to both services or only to the NY Times.

You can now get free Spotify Premium with a NY Times subscription.

With the Spotify NY Times subscription you get access to the NY Times on any device, access to Times Insider for behind the scenes reporting and you get two bonus All Access subscriptions that you can give to anyone — even Donald Trump. The All Access subscription also includes access to over 120 e-books and two new T-books each month.

You also get access to Spotify Premium. This includes the option to play any song, listen to music offline, enjoy better sound quality, listen without ads and to use a variety of other connected services like Alexa to play your music.

“At The Times we are not only dedicated to helping our readers understand the rapidly changing world around them, but also to helping them live better lives,” said Meredith Kopit Levien, executive vice president and chief revenue officer, The New York Times Company. “News and music have gone hand-in-hand since the early days of radio, and because personalization and curation are central to what both The Times and Spotify do so well, we created an experience for Times readers that gives them access to all the news and all the music that they want in one premier subscription.”

The NY Times Spotify subscription is $5 a week for the first year and it is $6.25 a week after. A normal NY Times All Access subscription is $6.25 a week if you pay for a month at a time, but you can buy a year of NY Times All Access in a one-time payment for the equivalent of $3.75 a week. That option only includes one bonus subscription.

This is the latest move from The NY Times, which recently joined Snapchat Discover to reach a younger audience. In the last quarterly report, The NY Times announced the addition of 276,000 net new subscribers, which is partially attributable to Donald Trump’s continued mentions of the “Failing @NYtimes” on Twitter.

If the NY Time engaged in real unbiased journalism then there would be no need for the marketing tactic of needing to offer another company’s product. The only reason they need to do that is because they have ruined their reputation with one-sided journalism. It’s not that it’s fake or made up, it just doesn’t even try to be objective.
