Those looking to add more battery life to the Samsung Galaxy S3 will be happy to know that Samsung’s official Galaxy S3 extended battery is now available to pre-order, half a year after the device first went on sale.

The accessory is now on sale through resellers like UK retailer MobileFun who currently has the Galaxy S3’s official extended battery up for a mere $64.99. That’s not a bad deal for those who need a little more juice out of their Galaxy S3.

The Samsung Galaxy S3 official extended battery has arrived.

Samsung’s official battery kit provides a massive 3000 mAh battery that nearly puts it on par with the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 which offers a large 3100 mAh battery right from the start. The battery in the Galaxy S3 at the moment is a measley 2100 mAh battery which means that owners of the Galaxy S3 who pick up the official battery kit, will be adding a whole 900 mAh’s of power to the device.

The battery kit is available in both blue and white and it also comes with a built-in Near-Field Communication (NFC) chip for use with services like Google Wallet and Android Beam. NFC of course is also available with the regular old Galaxy S3 as well.

It works with both the Galaxy S3 and the Galaxy S3 LTE which means that owners of the U.S. versions of the Galaxy S3 should be able to attach it and use the new battery with ease. What’s unclear though is whether or not it adds any bulk to the device. Often, these extended batteries will add a few millimeters to the fold, a small price to pay for the battery life that the device will pull down after installing it.

This is the first time that the official Samsung extended battery kit has gone on sale though the Samsung Galaxy S3 has been on sale since May. Of course, there are alternatives that Galaxy S3 owners have been able to purchase including the Hyperion Samsung Galaxy SIII 4200mAh Extended Battery, an absolutely massive battery pack for those that need a ton of juice and the Mugen Power 4600 mAh Extended Battery with NFC.

Keep in mind, some battery packs for the Galaxy S3 don’t feature NFC support.

I guess, cheap batteries will always find their customers, who will never even question WHY are they so cheap. It is impossible to create a high quality lithium battery for retail price of 9$! The cheapest you can get is around 30-40$.

yeah thats pretty silly, those batteries on ebay for 9 bucks suck, infact the extended ones usually last less time than an official regular battery.

with 3,100 my galaxy note 2 lasts for 24 hours comfortably (HSPA connection, not 4g/LTE yet in my area, but still very fast), sgs 3 with a smaller screen and almost the same battery would match note 2, if not beat it…a little hump doesnt make the phone look bad…
