Here’s a look at what’s new in the PS4 3.50 update.

Sony announced the PS4 3.50 release date on the Sony Blog and this morning we confirmed that the update is available for our PS4. This is a relatively small PlayStation update in size, but it packs in a lot of very interesting and long requested features.

We’ve asked for these options and features for a while and in some regards the PS4 3.50 update finally delivers features that the Xbox One has offered for some time.

The PS4 2.50 update is 299.7MB, and if you use Rest Mode it should download while you are away. Once this downloads you will likely need to walk through a short installation process before you can use your PS4 again.

If you are not using your PS4 with Rest Mode, you will need to check Downloads to make sure that the update arrives after you turn your PS4 on. You can then choose to install the PlayStation 4 System Software and your PS4 will restart to complete the process.

Here’s a closer look at the new PS4 3.50 features and options that you can use.

PS4 Remote Play on Mac & PC

PS4 Remote Play on Mac & PC

We've been able to use PS4 Remote Play on the PS Vita for a while, but now you can finally play your PS4 on your PC or Mac.

That means you can play Fallout 4 on Mac, if you have a PS4 on hand. The same goes for playing MLB The Show 16 on Mac or Windows. Basically any game that you own on your PS4 you can now play on your Mac or PC using Remote Play.

You'll need Windows 8.1 or Windows 10 and up on a PC and you will need OS X 10.10 or OS X 10.11 on your Mac. There are some streaming resolution options that will vary based on your internet connection.

- Resolution options: 360p, 540p, 720p (Default: 540p)

- Frame rate : Standard (30fps), High (60fps) (Default: Standard)

You can play at home or you can play remotely if you have a fast enough Internet connection. We've had the best luck with a wired connection to the PS4 and playing on a WiFi network instead of a mobile connection.

With this option you will use the DualShock 4 controller on Mac and PC. You need to use a USB cable and you can only use one controller. You will need to download the free Remote Play Installer for Mac or PC.

Most of this seems pretty creepy! I didn’t see anything that interested me, but people who wish to leverage their computer to play games while away from the PS4 will like it.
