8 Reasons to Wait for the Pixel 4 & 5 Reasons Not to

Wait For A Top-Tier Camera Experience

Wait For A Top-Tier Camera Experience

It's official. Google didn't want to let leaks and rumors do all the talking, so they posted photos and videos way back in June confirming the Pixel 4 and its several front and rear cameras.

Which means we can officially confirm the Pixel 4 and Pixel 4 XL will have two powerful cameras on the back, along with a few new sensors we're hearing are "Spectral sensors". Essentially a triple camera array.

Combine two powerful 12-16MP Pixel cameras, Google's software, and a spectral sensor to gather information and the Pixel 4 will likely continue to lead the mobile market with the best smartphone camera. Period. In fact, we think the camera experience alone will make the Pixel 4 worth waiting for. Especially now that Apple just debuted it's iPhone 11 Pro with some pretty capable cameras itself.

We’re hearing Google’s dual cameras will have exciting features like audio zoom, Live HDR which would be amazing, a new motion-mode, astrophotography controls, and better wide-angle selfies, among other things. Furthermore, another leak suggests Google will add P3 wide-color gamut support to the Pixel 4 camera, similar to the iPhone. That means it'll have amazing colors to compliment the improved lenses, high-end glass, AI software and more that completes the camera experience.

If photography is important to you, you'll want to wait for this phone.

One of the things I wish to see in the next-gen pixel is the dual camera for better Bokeh and also the minimal front. I dont want to see them copying. Hoping they will bring a few changes and be pioneer in the design bringing something which we have never seen.

This was a really thoughtful article. Been reading up all morning and this made me both look forward to the Pixel 4 and also confirm to me that I shouldn’t wait for it this time around. I would also mention that the Pixel 3/3XL Lite is rumored to be dropping in a month or so. Great cost effective alternative for a brand new Pixel albeit a plastic-bodied version of last year’s model.

Pixel might only be 3 generations in but Google had 6 generations of Nexus phones before it. I’m sure the only reason they renamed is that Nexus 7 was already taken by their 7″ tablet.
They’ll be releasing their 10th generation phone too this year. Noob.

Well.. Kind of, but I disagree completely! Nexus phones were made by HTC a few times, LG, HTC again, and even Motorola made one. Even the last-gen Nexus 5X and 6P were made by LG (5x) and Huawei made the Nexus 6P. Obviously, they ALL looked completely different.

So while this is “technically” the 10th phone from Google, it’s honestly the 4th where Google’s actually making the majority of the choices, decisions, designs, etc.

Please do not curve the sides of the google pixel 4 xl. It makes it easier to play word search puzzle without losing your place while using the stylus to get the correct answer

Jesus Christ talk about grading on a curve … pretending all the previous efforts of Nexus didn’t exist

Whenever I saw those patent drawings, I could only see one thing: The Pixel 2 XL without the screen outline. I don’t know when these patents were filed (which could potentially, technically rule that out), but I don’t know how no one has mentioned this (on the articles and posts I’ve read so far anyway)…

I believe it is in fact the Pixel 2 XL due to the placement of the speakers, flash, and camera lens. But mostly due to the glass section design.

By the way, Flame is a fish. The flame angel is a bright red marine fish and one of the most beautiful in existence.

I really really hope that they dont remove the fingerprint sensor from the back. It is my favorite unlock from any phone ever and I love it on my pixel 2.

Almost positive this phone will have no fingerprint scanner. If it does have one, it’ll be under the screen. positive.

Another reason for waiting on a future Pixel device is 5G connectivity. I’m planning on holding onto my 2016 Pixel XL until a few months after the first Pixel 5G is released, when the price should have depreciated quite a bit.

Oh absolutely. It’ll get released near the end of October. Then a few weeks later see discounts, not to mention more discounts for Black Friday. Combine a trade-in deal with BF and you’ll score a sweet deal!

    Wait it out.

I’m not paying $1,000 for an Android based phone that has what – 3 years of support?
vs. paying about the same amount for an Iphone, yet having 4-5 years of support.

I look for value for dollar. Surprisingly enough – the Iphone may end up being the less expensive one to consider – if you’re concerned about your phone’s longevity of security updates / o/s updates etc.

I would prefer to stay within Android – but am keeping the options open. I may wait until mid-October to see what happens with the Pixel 3 pricing.

This would be true, but I’m definitely not keeping a phone for 5 years. That like 50 years in tech time. I’ve had 3 phones since I had the 6s+ (was not impressed). Went to Pixel for two years, now Xr for a year. Apple does some ok stuff, but they keep you in the garden in every way possible. Sometimes you want some forbidden fruit lol. .
