The Rise of the Tomb Raider release is confirmed for 2015 and Microsoft is expected to offer new details in just a few short days at its E3 2015 press conference. With that in mind, here’s what you need to know about the Rise of the Tomb Raider release and release date ahead of E3.
In 2013, Square Enix and Crystal Dynamics released a new edition to the Tomb Raider series. The game, dubbed Tomb Raider, was initially released for the Xbox 360 and PS3 though a revamped Definitive Edition made its way to the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 in 2014.
Both the original and the Tomb Raider Definitive Edition received excellent reviews. So, it didn’t come as much of as a surprise when the two companies confirmed a new game later in 2014. That game is called Rise of the Tomb Raider and it will be set after the events of the first game.
Fans of the series are excited about the new installment and we’ve seen a number of important release details emerge in the year since the game was first announced. There is still plenty of mystery, sure, but we’ve seen the companies behind the game fill in several blanks ahead of its big reveal.
