With an Android 6.0 Marshmallow release looming on the horizon, Samsung continues to focus on its Galaxy Android 5.1.1 Lollipop release as new roll outs and new details continue to emerge ahead of Google’s next big upgrade.

The Samsung Galaxy Android 5.1.1 Lollipop roll out has made substantial progress since its arrival earlier this summer though there are still a number of devices that are running older versions of Google’s Lollipop operating system.

Samsung and its carrier partners continue to remedy this ahead of the Android 6.0 Marshmallow release and today we’ve spotted several new and important details from U.S. carriers and well-known carriers in other parts of the world.

Today, Verizon started rolling out two brand new Galaxy Android 5.1.1 Lollipop updates. Android 5.1.1 is heading to the Galaxy Tab 4 8.0 and the Galaxy Note Pro 12.2 and both will be making the jump straight from Google’s previous operating system Android 4.4 KitKat.

The two Android 5.1.1 Lollipop updates are packed with brand new features, enhancements and fixes. Both should start rolling out Over-the-Air today and Verizon Galaxy Tab 4 8.0 and Galaxy Note Pro 12.2 users should receive a prompt to install the new software.

Both Android 5.1.1 updates ate expected to be large and owners will want to set aside some time to complete the download and installation process.

Verizon’s tablets aren’t the only ones set to get the bump up to Android 5.1.1 Lollipop. We’ve tracked down several upcoming Android 5.1.1 Lollipop updates including two more versions of the elusive Samsung Galaxy Note 4 Android 5.1.1 release.

Australian carriers Optus and Telstra have confirmed plans to deliver Galaxy Note 4 Android 5.1.1 Lollipop updates in October. Telstra’s also confirmed the arrival of a Samsung Galaxy Note Edge Android 5.1.1 update. The Galaxy Note Edge is Samsung’s curved Galaxy Note 4 variant.

This is big news for Galaxy Note 4 owners in Australia because it means that the device should soon get outfitted with Samsung’s Android 5.1.1 enhancements, bug fixes and a fix for the Stagefright security threat that surfaced earlier this year.

This is also big news for Galaxy Note 4 users outside of Australia because it means that Samsung’s still focused on the Galaxy Note 4 Android 5.1.1 roll out, a roll out that has so far managed to evade many big name variants including some here in the United States.

U.S. carriers typically don’t announce Android release dates ahead of time and Galaxy Note 4 users and others will simply have to wait to see if Samsung rolls out Android 5.1.1 ahead of its next big Android release for Galaxy phones and tablets.

Samsung hasn’t confirmed any Galaxy Android 6.0 Marshmallow updates yet but the company’s made it clear that Android 6.0 is in the cards.

This summer, Samsung posted an infographic on its website that outlines Android 6.0 features, a sign that the company plans to deliver upgrades to Galaxy users down the road.

While Samsung is teasing Android 6.0, a more recent report claims that the company hasn’t even started working on the Galaxy Android Marshmallow update.

A preliminary list of possible Android 6.0 Marshmallow updates for Samsung devices states that once Samsung does start working on the software, it will look to update the Galaxy Note 5, Galaxy S6 Edge+, Galaxy S6 Edge, Galaxy S6, Galaxy S6 Duos, Galaxy Note 4, Galaxy Note 4 Duos, Galaxy Note Edge, Galaxy Tab A, and Galaxy Alpha.

Google’s confirmed an event for September 29th and the company is rumored to have new Nexus phones up its sleeve including a brand new Nexus 5. The company is also expected to start talking about the Android 6.0 Marshmallow release.

In other words, it could only be a few days before the spotlight moves from Samsung’s Android 5.1.1 roll out to its rumored Android 6.0 Marshmallow release for Galaxy smartphones and tablets.

Samsung Galaxy Note 4 is the worst device in terms of Updates. I really hate that.

I no longer have any faith in Samsung. The Note 4 is a waste of good hardware, paired with the crap system they’ve given us. Combined with the glacial pace of updates, I wish I’d gone with the Nexus. I won’t make the same mistake next time. My wife can upgrade next month and I’ll encourage her to go with the G4.

I agree… The Note 4 updates are so bad!! I think I am going to try Motorola and the X Pure Edition or the upcoming new Nexus phones.
