Samsung Epic 4G Touch Ice Cream Sandwich Update Rolling Out Soon

Published

on

Samsung has posted the Samsung Epic 4G Touch Ice Cream Sandwich source code which is a sign that the Epic 4G Touch Ice Cream Sandwich roll out is closer than it has ever been.

Phandroid has discovered that the company has posted the source code to its website which is a pretty good indication that the update is on its way and it will, as was previously rumored, likely be hitting devices once tomorrow rolls around.

The Epic 4G Touch ICS update should arrive soon.

Yesterday, we learned that Sprint and Samsung were planning to roll out the Epic 4G Touch Ice Cream Sandwich update starting tomorrow, July 12th.

The update is expected to roll out OTA (Over The Air) to customers tomorrow with the full roll out scheduled to be completed by July 20th. This means that many Epic 4G Touch owners will see the update roll out on July 12th but many others will have to wait a few days before the software arrives.

Of course, Sprint and Samsung have yet to confirm anything in regards to the official release date but now that the source code is available, we believe that the companies will be rolling out the software soon and tomorrow is as good of a day as any.

The Sprint Epic 4G Touch will be the last Galaxy S II, amongst the big three U.S. carriers, to receive the ICS update.

The AT&T and T-Mobile variants have both been upgraded to Android 4.0 already.

Sprint’s Epic 4G Touch ICS update will bring all of the new features associated with Android 4.0 along with it including the new UI and Face Unlock and it should also bring about a number of enhancements and bug fixes too.

Let us know when the software starts rolling out because it should arrive soon.

My mom is a manager at a sprint store in michigan, and she was the advocate for the s3. You may find it hard to believe, but the S2 is honestly a better phone. The camera on the S3 is a complete, utter joke and takes god-awful pictures. The phone is plasticy and way too light, and somehow manages to be longer than the s2. I would honestly wait to see how you like your epic touch 4g with the ICS update before you make any upgrade decisions because the s3 is not a very good phone.

your retarded it has the same camera as the s2 so how could it be worse? obviously its longer if it has a bigger screen and the s2 is practically plastic so it cant get any worse

That is a weird plastic comment.
It is 251 EST and still no update.
Think it might be a while.

Kid, you’re retarded. The GS3 is specs-wise the best phone out right now, with a camera in close second to the EVO LTE. And the phone is longer because the screen is half an inch larger. My only gripe with the GS3 is the shape and the phone button. Capacitive buttons are the way to go.

    Oh, and TouchWhiz. Ugh.
