Samsung Galaxy Android 4.4.3 & Android 4.4.2 KitKat Details Leak

Published

New Samsung Galaxy S5 Android 4.4.3 KitKat, Galaxy S4 Android 4.4.3 KitKat and Android 4.4.2 KitKat update details have leaked to the surface, details that once again all but confirm Google’s still unannounced Android 4.4.3 KitKat update release.

In January, Samsung started rolling out the Android 4.4.2 KitKat update to its Galaxy Note 3. Weeks later, the update started to push for the Samsung Galaxy S4. Since then, we’ve seen the Android 4.4.2 KitKat update emerge for several devices including the Galaxy S3, Galaxy Note 2, and Galaxy Note 10.1. And while a number of Android 4.4.2 KitKat updates have rolled out, there are still plenty of updates that have yet to deploy.

Samsung typically does not talk about Android updates or their release dates which means that we typically must depend on leaks for credible information. Today, SamMobile leaked a supposed Samsung Galaxy schedule and the schedule revealed a number of important Android 4.4.2 and Android 4.4.3 KitKat update details.

The schedule, which appears to be legit, not only details upcoming plans for Android 4.4.2 KitKat but it also delves into the rumored Android 4.4.3 KitKat update, an update that is expected to be Google’s bug fixer for Android 4.4.2. Unlike Android 4.4.2 KitKat, Android 4.4.3 KitKat remains unannounced and while rumors have suggested a deployment in May or June, the company still hasn’t confirmed that.

Android 4.4.3 KitKat rumors have suggested that the update is currently in testing for the Galaxy S5, Samsung’s current Galaxy S flagship, and they have also asserted that Samsung could perhaps skip Android 4.4.2 KitKat and jump to Android 4.4.3, at least for some devices. This schedule seems to back both rumors up.

It points to an upcoming Galaxy S5 Android 4.4.3 KitKat update and it also shares a potential roll out for the Galaxy S4 LTE-A, a device that remains on Android 4.3 and could perhaps make the jump up to Android 4.4.3 KitKat down the road. The schedule doesn’t leak a release date for Samsung’s Android 4.4.3 KitKat update but SamMobile thinks it may take a month or so for the update to roll out. Typically, Google deploys its updates to Nexus devices first before the software spreads to devices like the Galaxy S4 and Galaxy S5.

Carriers are usually weeks behind the international models so it could be months before we see some Samsung Galaxy S5 and Galaxy S4 Android 4.4.3 KitKkat updates land for carrier-branded devices.

Rumors also have pointed to an Android 4.4.3 KitKat release for a number of Galaxy smartphones including the Galaxy Note 2 and Galaxy S3 though those devices are absent on this list.

Android 4.4.2 KitKat is on the way for a number of devices as well. Android 4.4.2 KitKat update testing was recently completed for the Galaxy S3 LTE and it appears that Samsung is still on target for a release in May. An exact date remains unknown. The Galaxy S3 GT-9300 Android 4.4 KitKat is listed as unstable, something that affirms Samsung’s recent cancellation.

Samsung’s Android 4.4.2 KitKat update should reach the Galaxy S4 Mini sometime in June and it appears that the same can be said for the Samsung Galaxy Mega, and Galaxy Grand 2.

The Samsung Galaxy S4, Galaxy Note 3, Galaxy S3, and Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.4 KitKat updates continue to roll out though it looks like we should see plenty of action in the next few weeks. For Galaxy S4 and Galaxy Note 3 owners, Android 4.4 KitKat represents one of the first major updates to those devices. For owners of the Galaxy S3 and Galaxy Note 2, the future isn’t so bright.

The Galaxy S3 is now two and the Galaxy Note 2 will turn two later on this year. Google recommends 18 months of software support while Samsung typically offers 24 months. Android 4.4 KitKat likely represents the end of the road for the Galaxy S3 while the Galaxy Note 2 could potentially get another Android update, if one does indeed arrive this summer.

Not going to happen because the i9300 only has 1 GB of RAM and it’s listed unstable now.
