Several new and exciting Samsung Galaxy Android 4.4 KitKat update and Samsung Galaxy Android 4.4.4 KitKat update details have been confirmed today as Samsung works to get its devices upgraded to Google’s latest version of KitKat.

For much of 2014, Samsung has been delivering Android 4.4.2 KitKat updates to select devices in the United States and abroad. In the midst of the Android 4.4.2 KitKat roll out, we’ve also seen the company start pushing out Android 4.4.4 KitKat updates. We’ve seen the Galaxy Note 3 Android 4.4.4 KitKat update start to push out. We’ve seen the Galaxy S4 Android 4.4.4 KitKat update roll out. We’ve seen the Android 4.4.4 KitKat update for the Samsung Galaxy S5 make significant progress. And we’ve even seen the company deliver Android 4.4.4 KitKat to the Galaxy S3.

As we’ve moved deeper into the year, Samsung’s Android 4.4 KitKat update roll out has begun to pick up steam and today we’ve seen a flurry of Android 4.4.2 KitKat and Android 4.4.4 KitKat update activity with a number of new and exciting Samsung Galaxy Android 4.4 KitKat update details confirmed for select users.

Today, the Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 Android 4.4.4 KitKat update is rolling out though, as noted by SamMobile, the update is limited to two variants in Korea and one in China. The SHW-M480W and SHW-M480K, the Wi-Fi and 3G versions of the Galaxy Note 10.1 in Korea, are both receiving their upgrade to the current version of Android 4.4 KitKat. Android 4.4.4 KitKat is also hitting the LTE model, the SHW-E320S, in China.

It appears that the update is similar to the other Android 4.4.4 KitKat updates that have pushed out which means that it should have an assortment of bug fixes on board. Samsung’s been using Android 4.4.4 KitKat as a primer ahead of its Android L updates that are rumored to be coming sometime before the end of the year.

While the update is limited, this is your standard Galaxy KitKat update. Samsung always rolls updates out to a select few devices before pushing them out to the international community. Samsung’s next push should take place within the next couple of weeks as it works to get all of its Galaxy Note 10.1 models updated to the latest firmware.

Those two details aren’t the only details to emerge today. Australian carrier Optus has also revealed its upcoming plans for KitKat including details regarding its missing Galaxy S4 Android 4.4 KitKat updates.

Australian carriers are very forthcoming about Android update information and we pass along their information in an effort to paint a broad picture for Samsung Galaxy device owners around the world. Typically, Aussie carriers are on the back end when it comes to release timing, something to keep in mind as we discuss these new Galaxy KitKat update details.

After a lengthy wait, it appears that Optus is primed and ready to deliver Android 4.4.2 KitKat (not Android 4.4.4 KitKat) to its Galaxy S4 users. It says that its Android 4.4.2 KitKat updates for the Galaxy S4 and Galaxy S4 mini have all been approved and that their roll outs will begin sometime in mid-October. It doesn’t list any specific dates.

That’s huge for Galaxy S4 users down under because it means that Samsung has finally been able to work out the kinks plaguing its updates. Other Aussie carriers have struggled with KitKat as well though it now looks like top Australian carriers are finally making significant progress towards their all important KitKat releases.

A rumor from SamMobile puts Samsung’s first Android L updates in November or December. This is exciting because it’s the first we’ve heard of Samsung’s Android L update release plans. The company, to this day, remains silent about what it has in store for Galaxy users in the future.

The first two Android L updates are rumored to be for the Galaxy Note 4 and Galaxy S5 though we expect a number of Android L updates to eventually roll out to older devices. Here’s a list of devices we expect will get Android L:

  • Galaxy S5
  • Galaxy S5 mini
  • Galaxy S5 Active
  • Galaxy S4
  • Galaxy S4 Active
  • Galaxy Note 4
  • Galaxy Note Edge
  • Galaxy Note 3
  • Galaxy Note 3 Neo
  • Galaxy Alpha

How about samsung tab 3 10.1 SHW-480k that I am using now here in the Philippines? Am I expecting a major update from sandwich to the most coveted kitkat? I hope that comes too fleetly. I can’t wait for it.
