Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 Release Date: What to Expect

Published

on

The Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 is finally going to launch in the U.S. at an event on August 15th. And while it’s going to launch at the event, there is no guarantee that a release will happen on that day. That being said, we want to take a look at what to expect from the Galaxy Note 10.1 release date.

Samsung will be unveiling the Galaxy Note 10.1 at an event on August 15th. The event is a little odd though given that Samsung has already made the device official and shown off all of its specifications.

The device will have a 1.4GHz dual-core processor and 2GB of RAM. The tablet runs Android 4.0 Ice Cream sandwich, and has a 10.1-inch WXGA (1280×768) display, a rear-facing 5MP camera, and a front-facing 1.9MP camera for video chatting.

What Samsung didn’t make official though was the Galaxy Note 10.1’s pricing and its release date. We expect Samsung to announce something on August 15th but given its past, it’s possible that we might have to wait for something official.

That being said, given the uncertainty, we want to make a few logical predictions about what to expect from the Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 release date.

A Specific Release Date for the Wi-Fi Model

The Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 will likely see its official release date made public on August 15th. The device, at least at first, will be Wi-Fi only which means Samsung is free to announce a release date itself which bodes well for information being made available at the event.

Typically, Samsung has to wait for American carriers to announce release dates themselves.

The Galaxy Note 10.1 will arrive with 4G LTE on board at some point, but we expect the Wi-Fi model to be given a specific release date at the event.

Samsung’s 4G LTE Galaxy Note 10.1 model won’t be as lucky.

Soon After Launch

If Samsung does in fact announce a release date for the Wi-Fi model, expect it to be soon after the launch date, maybe even that day. Again, this is a Wi-Fi only device and that means that Samsung doesn’t need to wait for carriers.

The Galaxy Note 10.1 will probably attract some interest, but not as much as it would have had it launched earlier this year.

Throw in the fact that we’ve seen it appear on a number of retail sites already, albeit prematurely, and we have to assume that a release date is somewhat close.

No Pre-Order

If that theory is correct, we expect Samsung to forgo a pre-order for the device and instead, just launch the device directly onto shelves.

This would make a bit of sense considering Samsung originally announced the device back in February and it needs to get the device out to consumers as soon as it possibly can.

So, those interested in the Galaxy Note 10.1 shouldn’t expect a pre-order prior to the device’s release date. Just expect the device to be released.

Moderate Interest

Don’t expect lines out the door for this tablet, especially now that Samsung has taken so long to get it onto shelves and not with the iPad Mini looming on the horizon.

Those who want the tablet should have an easy go of it on its release date and while some retailers may sell out, we don’t expect it to become unavailable in the same way that the Nexus 7 was.

“Don’t expect lines out the door for this tablet, especially now that Samsung has taken so long to get it onto shelves and not with the iPad Mini looming on the horizon.” I don’t think anyone expects lines, but I would imagine this will sell as well as the Galaxy Note, which has done much better than analysts expected. I certainly wouldn’t count this out (IF it works as well as the rendering shows)

Hmmm, these are starting to pop-up on ebay:

Strange thing is, they say they have them in stock (with delivery as soon as next week), and they are the Wi-Fi+#G versions!

    Could these be legit?

I don’t think it will make it that big especially with tablets from other giants like iPad, Microsoft surface popping up, it will have to fight for market, and to make it worse, i think its overpriced.

This tablet is the football equivalent of a brilliant 99 yard drive only to fumble on the 1.

The pen and software are brilliant. The cpu is blazing fast. Tons of ram and expandable memory. Ports everywhere. Good looking design.

    And the screen…

    SUCKS.

If this looks anything like the screen on the Tab 10.1 it is an epic fail. Compared to the iPad and the ASUS Infinity, the Tab screen looks like 2 years ago.

If this sells for more than the cheapest iPad 3 or ASUS Infinity it has no chance. The screen is just too horrible.

One thing very deceptive about their little video there. The hand in the video with the pen is VERY small and makes the Note look HUGE by comparison. In real life the Note is only 10.1 inches diagonal – in other words, not that big.
