Samsung Galaxy Note 2 Launch Date: What to Expect

Published

on

We have already touched on what and what not to expect from the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 release date and now it’s time to take a look at what consumers should expect from the Galaxy Note 2 launch date which is set for an Unpacked event on August 29th in Germany.

When Samsung first sent out invites for its August 29th event, it was unclear if the Galaxy Note 2 or the Galaxy Note 10.1 would be a part of that announcement. Fortunately, Samsung cleared that up ahead of time confirming the Galaxy Note 2 for launch, just ahead of the IFA conference in Berlin which kicks off a day later.

Thus far though, Samsung has kept a tight lid on the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 itself. Nothing it set in stone just yet but the device is likely going to sport a 5.5-inch Super AMOLED HD display, S-Pen capabilities, 1.5-2GB of RAM, 4G LTE data speeds, and a quad-core Exynos processor.

It’s also rumored to be running Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich and not Android 4.1 Jelly Bean.

The Galaxy Note 2 will launch on August 29th.

Software aside, the Galaxy Note 2 is looking like a fine successor to the original Galaxy Note which launched in Berlin last year at IFA 2011.

So as we approach August 29th, we wanted to give consumers a heads up on what to expect from the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 launch date and event themselves. Of course, Sammy hasn’t confirmed anything yet but that doesn’t mean we can’t make some educated predictions.

Here is what to expect from the Galaxy Note 2 launch date.

Live Stream

Unlike Apple events, Samsung usually streams its announcements on the internet which allows common folk to get a glimpse at the product and the event itself. We fully expect the company to do the same with the Galaxy Note 2 launch event on August 29th.

The company will likely provide a website for interested parties to go to which is where a live stream of the event will be found.

The Galaxy S III live stream saw interviews and promo videos and more and we fully expect Samsung to roll out the same kind of red carpet for the Samsung Galaxy Note 2.

Tons of Hype, Dull Announcement

While Samsung has been able to mimic Apple’s product secrecy and its penchant for having product launches separate from major trade shows, Samsung has not, thus far, been able to capture the magic of the Apple events themselves.

The Samsung Galaxy S III event had gorgeous screens, nifty demos and tons of information about the products, but the event was jumbled, featured far too many speakers and went on for way too long.

Unless Samsung has made an about face, we expect the same from the Galaxy Note 2 launch event. Suits reading scripts off of a screen. People we’ve never heard of talking about stuff average consumers don’t care about. Designers talking about nature.

Hopefully, Samsung keeps it fresh and simple but we doubt it.

A Fantastic Device

That being said, the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 will very likely be a fantastic handset. Samsung had a winner with the original Galaxy Note and Samsung has proven that it can duplicate its successes.

The Galaxy Note 2 will likely be a fantastic device.

The Samsung Galaxy S II smartphone was as huge hit and there was a lot of pressure on Samsung to create something bigger and better with the Galaxy S III. So far, it seems that the company was able to do that, judging by the millions and millions of devices sold.

On paper, the Galaxy Note 2 looks to be a vast improvement over the Galaxy Note 2 and that’s why we expect it to be a head-turner.

Uncertainty

After the announcement has been made, consumers will have only one thing on the brain: release date. And while we expect Samsung to offer up a release window, the company is not prone to announcing specific release dates.

Instead, consumers should expect uncertainty surrounding the Galaxy Note 2 release date, especially those based in the United States.

The U.S. almost always plays second fiddle to other regions when it comes to devices made outside the U.S. and the Galaxy Note 2 will likely continue that trend.

Accessories Without Release Dates

When Samsung announced the Galaxy S III in May, it also announced a wireless charger along with it. In fact, the charger was one of the bigger non-Galaxy S III announcements at the show.

Expect Galaxy Note 2 accessories, just not release dates.

Problem is, the charger still has not made its way to shelves yet and won’t be until September.

We expect Samsung to announce some accessories along with the Galaxy Note 2 as well but consumers should be cautious if the company does not announce release dates along with them.

I’m hearings the US version of the note 2 will only be 1.5 ghz, dual core, and 1.5gb of ram… Sounds alot like the s3 just a little bigger. Plus its looking like the note wont be for sale in the US til much later. I’m starting to think I should just get the S3 now. Anyone else thinking salon these lines?

I am also thinking about buying the Samsung S3 but i want the extra screen size .The Samsung Galaxy Note is essentially an extra sized Samsung Galaxy s2 (S3 snapdragon processor ) The Samsung Galaxy Note 2 will be an extra sized Samsung Galaxy S3 (s4 snapdragon processor) with additional capabilities such as the stylus pen. However being that these phones are always released in european and asian markets first its going to be minimum of 4 months after Aug 29 announcement that it will be available in America.I am so ready to upgrade I even have a new 32GB sd card and Otterbox defender case ready to use with Samsung s3 but Iam undecided

The Samsung Note will be available from ATT for consumers in about a month. My friend works at Target and they already have the signs. It does look like it may not have the Exnyos chip, but who knows.

I would wait, it is always worth doing so when buying a new tech. device.

Sorry, but as much as I am pumped about this phone, I’m not about to buy this thing knowing it already has an outdated OS. That’s just asinine. If Samsung themselves makes the announcement that within the next 1-3 months I can upgrade to Jelly Bean, I am probably sold. But if not – no way…that’s just being a dumb consumer.

Apple and the iPhone aren’t perfect, but my God, companies like Samsung and Google (Android OS) need to offer a way so those who buy expensive phones can upgrade version of AOS. That’s one set back of not having a phone where the hardware and OS are done by the same company, unlike the iPhone and Apple.

I hope Verizon does not screw this one up by not carrying the Galaxy Note (again!).
