Samsung Galaxy Note 3: Another Key Feature Leaks Out

Published

on

While much of the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 talk has been centered around its display, its design, its processor, its camera and its release date, it seems another extremely important Galaxy Note 3 feature has slipped under the radar with a rumor suggesting that the device will come equipped with a Broadcom BCM4339 5G Wi-Fi chip.

On September 4th, Samsung is expected to debut the Samsung Galaxy Note 3, a massive phablet and a compliment to its flagship Galaxy S4 which arrived in April earlier this year. Rumors have all centered around the big name features including its 5.7-inch 1080p display and a quad-core Exynos 5 Octa and Snapdragon 800 processors. However, another key feature seemingly leaked out a few days ago, a feature that consumers should be excited about.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 3 is rumored to be coming with a new Broadcom chip.

According to Samsung-Updates, the Galaxy Note 3 will be coming with a Broadcom BCM4339 5G Wi-Fi chip, a chip that was announced back in May after the HTC One and Samsung Galaxy S4 arrived with a previous generation Broadcom chip.

Because they utilized Broadcom’s BCM4335, both the HTC One and the Samsung Galaxy S4 launched with 5G Wi-Fi technology also known as 802.11ac, something that allowed the companies to cut costs, slim down their form factors while also aiding with performance, particularly with Wi-Fi connectivity. 802.11ac most recently came to Apple’s new slim MacBook Air models that were debuted at the company’s Worldwide Developers Conference back in June of this year.

While the Galaxy Note 2 did not have 802.11ac support, it appears that the Galaxy Note 3 will be joining the Galaxy S4 and will have 5G Wi-Fi support on board when it arrives.

This is important for a number of reasons.

5G Wi-Fi offers several enhancements.

5G Wi-Fi offers several enhancements.

First, it could mean a slimmer Galaxy Note 3. There have been rumors that have suggested that it could look a like the Galaxy Note 2, including dimensions, though previously rumors suggested it could be as thin as 8mm, much thinner than the Galaxy Note 2’s 9.3mm frame.

It also should mean faster Wi-Fi connections and wider range of connectivity, something that the Galaxy S4 and HTC One enjoy. These benefits, which include faster buffering times on video content, are perfect for an all-consuming device like the Galaxy Note 3 which is aimed at those who want to consume content and be productive on-the-go.

It’s also possible that it could help cut the cost of the Galaxy Note 3, but given that the device has launched two years in a row for $299.99, it’s unlikely.

The inclusion of this new Broadcom chip wouldn’t be surprising considering Samsung’s inclusion of 5G Wi-Fi on the Galaxy S4, but it’s certainly going to be a fantastic addition to a device that on paper, looks like a very worthy successor to the Galaxy Note 2.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 3 is expected to make its debut on September 4th with a release date rumored for later September. The release date has yet to be confirmed.

It’s not possible to “center around” anything. You can “center on” something, however. :)

I have been waiting this Note 3 for long time. I got sick of iPhone. I don’t want to buy tablet either. So, Note 3 have to be at least 6.3 inch or bigger screen to satisfy me. Samsung, please make it 6.5 inch screen. period. Thank you.

Does anyone know the dimensions of the phone yet? The Galaxy Note II is the perfect size to fit in my pocket (151.1 x 80.5 x 9.4) and I’m hoping they don’t make the Note III any bigger.

I assume since the S2, S3, and S4 are all about the same dimensions, that the Note III will be about the same as the Note II. Also, since they already have a bigger phablet (the Mega) I would think they wouldn’t want to make the Note II any bigger.

Could anyone provide any advice here?

the trend has been for a SLIGHTLY smaller profile with a slightly larger screen since 2011 on all Samsung Galaxy products, – I would expect that to maintain the trend – unless it would make the S Pen experience less enjoyable or intuitively comfortable.
