Galaxy Note 3 May Beat HTC One Max to Launch, By A Mile

The HTC One Max, HTC’s large screen version of the HTC One, may not launch until the fourth quarter meaning it may arrive well after the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 launch which is expected to take place on September 4th in Berlin, Germany.

Over the past few weeks, it has become clear that the HTC One Max will be HTC’s answer to the Samsung Galaxy Note 3. Rumors suggest that the device will have a massive 5.9-inch 1080p display, quad-core processor, Ultrapixel camera, full metal design and Android 4.3 Jelly Bean. There are also rumors that suggest that the HTC One Max will come with stylus support, much like the Galaxy Note 3.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 3 launch event is on for September 4th.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 3 launch is slated for September 4th.

And while anticipation for the HTC One Max is growing, it looks like HTC may not launch the device until sometime in October, November or December as an HTC executive has suggested that the HTC One Max launch may not happen until Q4.

According to Focus Taiwan, HTC’s Chief Marketing Officer Ben Ho suggested that the company plans to announce two-to-three Desire-branded devices in the third and fourth quarters and will announce a new variant of its HTC One, likely the HTC One Max, sometime in the fourth quarter. The fourth quarter spans from October to December.

If this is true, and it’s possible that it is, it would mean a launch that would come at least a month after the Samsung Galaxy Note 3, a device that is all but certain to arrive on September 4th. Galaxy Note 3 release date rumors suggest that the device could be out as early as late September, something that would fall in line with Samsung’s previous flagship releases.

Of course, this isn’t set in stone and given that IFA 2013 is coming up in early September, there is still a chance that HTC could debut the device at the trade show. However, at this point, those looking to get an HTC One Max in the near future should start tempering their expectations as it’s looking like the Galaxy Note 3 could beat the HTC One Max to launch.

This would not the be the first time that a new Samsung smartphone beat an HTC One variant to launch in 2013. The Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini, Galaxy S4 Active and Galaxy S4 Zoom all beat the HTC One mini to shelves. The HTC One mini, rumored for AT&T, still hasn’t arrived for the carrier.

A month in the smartphone world is a long time, particularly when August and September are going to be full of new devices including the Galaxy Note 3, iPhone 5S, Moto X, Droid Ultra, Droid MAXX and LG G2.
