Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Release Date Mini Roundup

Published

on

In early September, the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 release date in the United States was confirmed for October. Shortly thereafter, carriers like AT&T, T-Mobile and Verizon moved quickly to announce their specific details ahead of their respective launches. And as September comes to a close, we are surprisingly still hearing quite a bit about the Galaxy Note 3 release date in the U.S. and elsewhere.

On September 4th, Samsung took the stage in Berlin, Germany and announced the device that we knew was coming. The Samsung Galaxy Note 3 had long been rumored to be coming to replace the Galaxy Note 2 and ahead of the event, Samsung itself confirmed that it would be the Galaxy Note 3 taking the stage to delight investors and consumers alike.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 3 will hit five U.S. carriers.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 3 arrived and as expected, it arrived with a number of big features including a 5.7-inch 1080p display, quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor from Qualcomm, a 13MP camera, Android 4.3, upgrade S Pen software, enhanced multitasking, and a brand new faux leather design that shows Samsung’s willingness to move away from plastic.

The company, which was once in the business of launching devices well outside of U.S. release dates, offered consumers in the U.S. a solid October release date for the Galaxy Note 3 and left it at that.

The lack of details didn’t frustrate buyers for long as carriers quickly moved to confirm the Galaxy Note 3 for arrival in October. AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile, U.S. Cellular and Verizon all confirmed the device for later in the year and AT&T, T-Mobile and Verizon almost immediately confirmed release dates in early October, something that just did not happen with the Galaxy Note 2.

Those confirmations came a few weeks ago, and since then, quiet. That is, until today, when the Galaxy Note 3 release date train rumbled to life again in a big way. Ahead of the Galaxy Note 3 release date, it’s time to take a look at all of the new details we’ve seen emerge in an attempt to paint a more vivid picture of the Galaxy Note 3 release in the United States and elsewhere.

U.S. Cellular Galaxy Note 3 Release Date Last

After today’s Sprint Galaxy Note 3 release date confirmation, we now have four of the five release dates in the United States. What this means is that the Galaxy Note 3 carrier breakdown, release date-wise, looks like this:

  • AT&T: October 1st.
  • Sprint: October 4th.
  • T-Mobile: October 2nd.
  • Verizon: Shipping by October 10th.

This means that the U.S. Cellular Galaxy Note 3 is last when it comes to a release date. We’re not sure what the hold up is but the carrier told Gotta Be Mobile that the device is still slated for a release in October, it’s just a matter of when. Given how close we are to October, and given that Sprint has now unveiled its timing, we don’t anticipate that U.S. Cellular buyers will have to wait much longer for answers.

U.S. Cellular has shown a willingness to launch when the big four carriers do which means that we should see a release date land between October 1st and October 10th, that is, unless U.S. Cellular has something else big planned.

The carrier still hasn’t announced anything official, but it’s clear that it will be coming out with the iPhone 5S and iPhone 5. Fellow regional carrier C Spire Wireless announced today that it would begin carrying the iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C starting October 1st. We know that U.S. Cellular has been testing the iPhone and it could be that it puts it out during that week.

If true, that’s the only way we see the Galaxy Note 3 getting pushed out any further. And perhaps, this is why the carrier has remained tight-lipped about a release date. It’s still trying to figure it all out.

Sprint Galaxy Note 3 Price Bad, But Don’t Worry

Sprint surprised quite a few people today when it announced that its Galaxy Note 3 would come with a $350 on-contract price tag. That’s $50 more expensive than the on-contract price at AT&T and Verizon. It’s not clear why Sprint decided to up the price of the Galaxy Note 3 but those looking to buy should settle down.

Android devices typically have launch day deals and we don’t expect the Galaxy Note 3 to be any different. Look for the Sprint Galaxy Note 3 to be priced at $299.99 or lower through outlets like Amazon, Wirefly and possibly Dell as well.

Even if this doesn’t happen on day one, buyers only need to wait a few days or weeks and a Sprint Galaxy Note 3 price cut will certainly be available.

Pink Galaxy Note 3 Still Missing

Carriers have not shown off the pink Galaxy Note 3.

As expected, the pink Galaxy Note 3 is still missing in action in the U.S. All four carriers that have announced details have neglected to offer any timing for the pink Galaxy Note 3 and it’s still not clear if the color will be coming to the United States at all.

In the past, Samsung has taken several weeks, and sometimes months, to get new colors out to its users, and it could be that the pink Galaxy Note 3 is still several weeks away from landing in any of the Galaxy Note 3’s regions.

We fully expect U.S. carriers to get different Galaxy Note 3 models, but for the time being, buyers will have to deal with black and white.

Galaxy Note 3 Accessories En Route

Samsung didn’t detail all of the Galaxy Note 3 accessories on stage. Indeed, it went into detail about the S View Cover and the Flip Wallet, but it didn’t talk about several other big name accessories that will be coming to shelves.

Chief among them, wireless charging support, which it will offer through S Charger Kit. Galaxy Note 3 owners will also be able to buy an extra battery kit, S Charger Cover, S View Cover Wireless, and a desktop dock.

The Galaxy Note 3 will get several accessories.

The Galaxy Note 3 will get several accessories.

It’s not clear when these accessories will be available but we expect them to show up on shelves in the weeks after the Galaxy Note 3 release. So, now is the time to start saving.

Two New Galaxy Note 3 Variants Rumored

Samsung Galaxy Note 3 buyers need to be aware of two new developments. Reports out of Korea today suggest that the company might be releasing two different Galaxy Note 3 models, one in October and one later in the year.

The one in October is thought to be a Galaxy Note 3 that uses a flexible display, also known as Samsung Youm. The technology would put an unbreakable display on the Galaxy Note 3. It’s not clear where the device would land but given that it’s supposed to be sold in limited quantities, we don’t expect a global launch.

Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Colors

The other Galaxy Note 3 model is thought to be a cheaper variant aimed at emerging markets. The device is thought to have a different body, 8MP camera, and an LCD display instead of an AMOLED one. It’s thought to have an S Pen, just like the other models. Rumors suggest that it could be coming in November though like the other variant, there is no telling where it will land.

U.S. carriers have adopted Samsung’s other Galaxy S4 models, namely, the Galaxy S4 Zoom and Galaxy S4 Active, so it’s possible that one or both of these could hit the shores of the U.S.

Something to keep in mind before placing an order for the Galaxy Note 3 that is available right now.

Soooo, besides the accessories and possible flexible display, no new news. I’m super stoked to see the s view cover come with wireless charging capabilities and possibly NFC though. Is gonna hold out on a third party cover, but I’m glad they came through on this. I wonder what amperage the extra battery charger is gonna charge at….
