Galaxy Note 3 Specs Leak, Makes Appearance at Samsung

Published

on

The Samsung Galaxy Note 3 appeared on a Samsung webpage this weekend as more details of possible Galaxy Note 3 specs leak out pointing to a larger display and a slimmer design.

The Galaxy Note 3 is a much-anticipated follow up to the successful Samsung Galaxy Note 2 and could combine a new processor with a larger 1080P HD display, matching the resolution of the popular Galaxy S4 while adding a larger screen to offer choice to consumers.

Samsung Galaxy Note 3 specs are quite interesting considering how varied the screen size is and the back and forth on the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 processor we are seeing in various leaks.

Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Specs Leak

In addition to this news, a leak claims to share Samsung Galaxy Note 3 specs months ahead of the rumored launch. The Samsung Galaxy Note 3 specs leak comes from the SamMobile twitter account. SamMobile has a good record of reporting on Samsung devices ahead of launch, including many details on the Galaxy S4.

In a tweet from June 2nd we get a listing of possible Galaxy Note 3 specs. These are far from confirmed, but offer a plausible look at how the Galaxy Note 3 could stack up to the Galaxy S4 and the many phablet competitors like the rumors HTC T6.

Galaxy Note 3 Display

The Samsung Galaxy Note 3 display will reportedly increase from the Galaxy Note 2 up to 5.99-inches. This matches up with a rumor from early May which pointed to a 6-inch Galaxy Note 3 display.

The Galaxy Note 2 and Galaxy S4. Rumors point to a Galaxy Note 3 with a larger display and 1080P HD resolution.

The Galaxy Note 2 and Galaxy S4. Rumors point to a Galaxy Note 3 with a larger display and 1080P HD resolution.

In addition to an increase in size, the Galaxy Note 3 will reportedly ship with a 1080P Full HD Super AMOLED display. This is one inch larger than the Samsung Galaxy S4, but with the same resolution. This works out to a 367 pixel-per-inch rating, a major boost from the Note 2’s 267ppi. It is lower than the Samsung Galaxy S4’s 441 ppi, but these specs should translate into a good viewing experience.

We expect the S Pen will remain a part of the Galaxy Note 3. The Samsung Galaxy S4 delivered some S Pen features without a stylus, but with a larger screen and the cadre of Note and Note 2 users who use the device to take notes while on a phone call or in a meeting this Galaxy Note 3 feature is likely.

Galaxy Note 3 Processor and RAM

It appears that Samsung is still trying to figure out which processor it will place inside the Galaxy Note 3. SamMobile claims this is undecided at this point. This matches up with leaks that point to a Samsung Galaxy Note 3 with a Qualcomm processor and others which point to a Samsung processor.

While most rumors suggest Samsung is planning to use the Exynos Octa 5 Octa processor in the Note 3, a new rumors claims we could see the Galaxy Note 3 with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 quad-core processor.

No matter which processor ends up inside the Galaxy Note 3, we expect LTE support. The tweet claims the Note 3 will ship with 3GB of RAM, a bump up from 2GB in the Galaxy Note 2.

Galaxy Note 3 Dimensions

There is no concrete information on what the Galaxy Note 3 will look like, but rumors point to a plastic design. There is talk of a new design language, but Samsung Design 3.0 may not arrive until the Galaxy S5.

The Galaxy Note 3 could come at IFA 2013 in September.

The Galaxy Note 3 may include a thinner, plastic design.

If the SamMobile leak is correct, the Galaxy Note 3 will weigh about the same as the Note 2, at 182 grams, but it will slim down to 8mm. The Galaxy Note 2 is 9.4mm thick, which would make this a significant drop in thickness. The Samsung Galaxy S4 is 7.9mm. If Samsung can slim down the Galaxy Note 3 this much it could keep the device portable and pocketable with a larger display.

Galaxy Note 3 Camera

The Samsung Galaxy Note 3 will reportedly feature an improved camera which we could see boosted up to a 13MP sensor. A leak from ETNews matches up with the SamMobile tweet’s claim of a 13MP sensor and adds additional details.

The Galaxy Note 3 could feature an improved camera with a 13MP sensor like the Galaxy S4.

The Galaxy Note 3 could feature an improved camera with a 13MP sensor like the Galaxy S4.

It’s possible that the Galaxy Note 3 camera will come with optical image stabilization and feature a 3X optical zoom. Optical image stabilization is becoming more common, but an optical zoom is still a rarity in the word of smartphones.

The Galaxy Note 2 features an 8MP camera and the Galaxy S4 ships with a 13MP camera. A special edition of the Galaxy S4, called the Zoom, could bring an optical zoom later this month.

Galaxy Note 3 Appears on Samsung Website

Over the weekend the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 appeared in the VIP section of Samsung Kazakhstan. The VIP page is still up, but the listing for the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 is missing. Techtastic shares a screenshot which shows the “Galaxy Note III”, the Galaxy S4 Zoom and the Galaxy Tab 3 10.1.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 3 appears on a local Samsung website.

The page did not share any more details about the device. The Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 10.1 announcement came this morning and the Galaxy S4 Zoom announcement is expected on June 20th at an event in London. So far the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 launch looks good fo September at IFA 2013.

This isn’t the first time a Samsung webpage or local division shared news ahead of time or slipped up to reveal something in the company’s pipeline. While there are times these leaks are on target, other times it is an employee repeating rumors.

Alone this is not big news. Samsung is just as likely working on the Galaxy Note 3 as Apple is working on an iPhone 5S. Samsung sold 5 million Galaxy Note 2 devices within the first two months of launching, a figure that climbed after the Note 2 arrived on Verizon.

We don’t expect to hear anything about the Galaxy Note 3 at Samsung’s June event. The company is more likely to hold a Samsung Mobile Unpacked event later this year for the Galaxy Note 3.

A phone that size needs to be solid. Not only does plastic look and feel cheap but it isn’t very durable. I have a rubber case on my Droid X and have severly abused the phone for almost 4 years. Body has a few small scratches but no major damage and NEVER so much as cracked the screen. These new phones are cheap plastic, hair thin screens that break almost any time you drop them and for what??? Save the manufacturers 15¢ per phone and 35g in weight??? Charge me the extra $30 and put something in my hand that looks more professional than my sons leap pad.

…you have a rubber case on your droid x… I think your argument fails right there.

You are so right!! I hate that people keep complaining about the plastic, which is lighter and doesn’t retain heat like many of the “premium” materials, only to put a case over the phone regardless. There are other manufacturers if people want aluminum or glass phones, judging by Samsung’s dominance in Android most people don’t care.

My galaxy note 1 has survived many drops with out the case. I do have a small crack in the near the edge about 0.2 cm long. No performance loss so far, screen is fine, back cover still clips on tight.
That being said, I would like carbon. That just screams pro! But plastic = no sale, is a bit harsh considering your buying a phone. Maybe because it became cool, but I see a lot more cracked iPhones than I do samsung phones.

This will definitely be a great purchase. The current Galaxy Note 2 is the GOLD STANDARD of technology today the device every manufacturer is tripping over itself to copy and catch up too. Nothing will top the Galaxy Note 3 from September 2013 to July 2014.

No way would Samsung put the S600 inside, it will be the S800 or it will get obliterated by the competition that are coming with S800

Let’s hope it is widely available with a 32Gb internal memory option. Samsung need to realise that 16Gb just does not cut it these days.
