Galaxy Note Edge Release Date Picking Up Steam

Published

on

The Samsung Galaxy Note Edge release date keeps making progress behind the scenes as the device continues to pick up necessary certifications ahead of the Galaxy Note Edge release in the U.S. and around the world sometime later this year.

Earlier this month, Samsung took the stage at its Unpacked 2014 Episode 2 launch event and announced a slew of new devices including the Gear S smartwatch, Galaxy Note 4, and the all new Samsung Galaxy Note Edge. The Galaxy Note Edge, in particular, is the company’s new high-end version of the Galaxy Note that comes with a screen unlike anything Samsung has ever put on a smartphone.

The new Samsung Galaxy Note Edge is an intriguing smartphone. The device shares features with the Galaxy Note 4 but it also comes with one of the most interesting smartphone screens that we’ve ever seen. Instead of a flat display, the Galaxy Note Edge offers a bent display that drapes over the right side of its design. The feature, which provides new viewing angles, can be seen in action in the video below.

Samsung’s Galaxy Note Edge also includes a Quad HD resolution, a 2.7 GHz Quad-core Snapdragon 805 with 3GB of RAM, Android 4.4.4 KitKat with Samsung TouchWiz, 16 Megapixel Rear camera with Optical Image Stabilization, massive battery, and a thin 8.3mm frame. It’s a device that’s worth looking at going forward as we push toward the fall the arrival of key devices like the Moto X and Apple’s brand new iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus. Problem is, we don’t know when it will be released.

What we do know, however, is that the Galaxy Note Edge release date continues to make progress behind the scenes. Earlier this month, one Galaxy Note Edge variant passed through the FCC. We also recently spotted a Bluetooth certification for an international model. Now, three more Galaxy Note Edge variants have been caught getting their certifications a sign that the release date is getting closer.

Three new Galaxy Note Edge Bluetooth certifications, first spotted by Blog of Mobile, do not confirm an imminent Galaxy Note Edge release but they do tell us that the international Galaxy Note Edge release is inching closer to reality. The three variants are the SM-915S, SM-N915K, and SM-N915L and it appears that they are heading to the Korean market.

The SM-N915S will supposedly come to SK Telecom, the SM-N915K to KT, and the SM-915L to LG U+. Unfortunately these Bluetooth certifications, which are necessary before a device can officially hit shelves, do not out any specific Galaxy Note Edge release date details. The Galaxy Note Edge release remains as mysterious, if not more mysterious than the Galaxy Note 4 release date.

Samsung Japan might be teasing the Galaxy Note Edge release but it’s doing so with no firm release date in place. While the Galaxy Note 4 release date is confirmed for October, the Galaxy Note Edge release is simply confirmed for later this year. And while U.S. carriers have confirmed it for arrival, specific release details remain out of reach.

Early Galaxy Note 4 pre-orders have begun in Germany alongside Galaxy Note Edge pre-orders ahead of the Galaxy Note Edge release date. Amazon Germany is charging nearly €1000 for the Galaxy Note Edge. Same goes for Dutch retailer Notebooksbilliger. Samsung’s Galaxy Note Edge is expected to be more expensive than the Galaxy Note 4 but it’s still not clear how of a gap we’ll see because Samsung has yet to confirm either price tag.

Galaxy-Note-Edge

New Galaxy Note Edge release details from Yonhap News in Korea quote a Hyundai Securities analyst who says that while Samsung plans to ship 11 million units of the Galaxy Note 4, it might only ship 1 million units of the Galaxy Note Edge. The analyst believes that the low yield is due to the manufacturing difficulties that come with the Galaxy Note Edge’s display.

This could, perhaps, lead to supply issues if demand for Samsung’s new Galaxy Note Edge is widespread. With no release date in sight and an iPhone 6 up for order, some consumers are going to have a tough decision to make.

If they don’t release a date or price soon I’ll just get the new iPhone plus. I’m not waiting much longer for them to take their sweet time

Im going to wait for the edge but i wish they would hurry up with the release date it’s taken to long. I wouldn’t buy an iphone regardless. I would buy a phone three years old before i do that. Iphone dont do enough for me to spend my money on one. I would rather buy a low grade android
