Samsung Galaxy Note Jelly Bean Update Roll Out Looking Good

Published

on

The Samsung Galaxy Note will apparently be getting the upgrade to Android 4.1 Jelly Bean.

In addition to confirming the Galaxy S II Jelly Bean update, SamMobile also confirmed the update for Samsung’s original 5.3-inch phablet, the Samsung Galaxy Note.

The Samsung Galaxy Note Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update was rumored to be coming out in Q4 and today’s news does nothing to dispute that. It appears that the testing for the Galaxy Note Jelly Bean update went well and Samsung, at least at the moment, plans to roll the update out to Galaxy Note owners.

Keep in mind, this will likely be for the international version of the device. The AT&T and T-Mobile models will likely be getting their updates after the international version, and if the Ice Cream Sandwich roll out for the AT&T Galaxy Note was any indication, it could be months after.

The Galaxy Note Jelly Bean update has apparently been approved.

If true, that means AT&T Galaxy Note owners might be looking at an update in 2013.

Also complicating things is the fact that the Samsung Galaxy Note, which has a bigger display than most devices and touts stylus-support, is likely much trickier to upgrade than normal smartphones. That could also be a reason for a longer wait to Android 4.1 Jelly Bean.

At the moment though, Q4, which includes October, November and December appears to be what Samsung is shooting for with the Galaxy Note.

As of yet, a specific date isn’t yet on the surface.

The Galaxy Note joins both the Galaxy S III and Galaxy S II as likely candidates for the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update. Samsung remains mum on specific devices that will be graced with the update though these devices look to be among the first batch.

It’s possible that we might hear more once Samsung announces the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 on August 29th. In fact, that very day is the day that the company is rumored to be rolling out the Samsung Galaxy S III Android 4.1 update. No confirmation yet but it remains a possibility.

Bell Canada did an OTA to ICS for the Note a few weeks ago. Rather than calling people liars, maybe do some research.
