Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket Unboxing

Published

on

The Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket is the 2nd best Galaxy S phone out there, second only to the newly announced Galaxy Nexus. The Skyrocket is an upgraded version of the Galaxy S II series from Samsung. The Skyrocket has a slightly larger screen, a larger battery, and quicker CPU than the regular Galaxy S II. The Skyrocket boosts the CPU from a dual-core 1.2Ghz processor to a dual-core 1.5ghz processor. The Skyrocket supports LTE, where the plain old SII supports only HSPA+, which is fine for most.

The Samsung Galaxy SII Skyrocket is available from AT&T for $249 with a 2 year commitment which is $50 more than the Galaxy SII model that AT&T carries.

I purchased the Skyrocket tonight and here’s my initial look at the phone. For some reason I blanked on the size of the HTC Titan’s screen. I’ve been using it for 3 weeks, you’d think I would have known it was 4.7″ rather than 4.5″.

The Skyrocket is rocket fast! More opinions on this hot phone later. Thanks for watching!

I am curious why you say this phone is second to the Galaxy Nexus.

I gather the Nexus screen is going to be better than the Skyrocket, but other than that it seems that the Skyrocket has a better processor and cameras.  It will also get ICS in the near future.

Having never seen either phone, is it just the screen that makes the Nexus superior?

Well, I am making a general statement regarding the Galaxy Nexus based on several reasons.

The reviews are in and it’s awesome.
It runs Android 4.0. That can only be good.
It should be free of crapware since Google is putting it out. (can’t speak for the Verizon version though)

Maybe a bold statement, especially since I haven’t used t myself.
