Samsung Galaxy S3 Android 4.1.2 Update Rolls Out to LTE Model

Published

on

The Samsung Galaxy S3 Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean update, which brings a Premium Suite of new features to the device including a powerful multitasking tool from the Galaxy Note 2, has started to roll out to the international Samsung Galaxy S3 LTE model, otherwise known as the GT-I9305.

This model of course is the international variant of the 4G LTE model of Galaxy S3 which, like the other Galaxy S3 models, is currently powered by Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. However, Samsung will be further upgrading the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update with a Premium Suite of features of its own which will likely tide owners over until the release of Android 4.2 Jelly Bean.

The Galaxy S3 Android 4.1.2 update has hit the LTE model of the device.

Samsung’s update is a massive one as it brings a host of new features to Galaxy S3 owners, several of them powerful functions found on Samsung’s other Galaxy smartphone, the Galaxy Note 2.

One of the more noticeable features of the Android 4.1.2 update is the Multi Window View feature. It allows users to split up the Galaxy S3′s display into two sections, each running a separate application. For instance, in one section of the display, users could run Facebook while in the other, be checking the web or email. Given the Galaxy S3’s massive display, this is a handy feature for users.

The update also brings the new Gallery app that’s found in the Galaxy Note 2 software, Page Buddy, a customizable Notification panel, a keyboard similar to the Gesture-enhanced keyboard in Android 4.2, a smart screen rotation feature and more. Obviously, it’s not Android 4.2 Jelly Bean, Google’s latest Android update, but it’s a stellar one nonetheless.

The update, which SamMobile says is now rolling out in phases, won’t touch down for all owners of the Galaxy S3 LTE today. Instead, it will vary from carrier to carrier which means that plenty of owners will be waiting quite a bit.

Included in that wait are U.S. Galaxy S3 owners who haven’t heard when they might be receiving the update. We’ve heard that January 25th might be a target date for the U.S. but thus far, Samsung hasn’t announced any Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean plans.

Best Buy has the best prices on phones….I have seen the Galaxy s3 as low as 49.99……Verizon has it for like $200. Right now its on sale at Radio Shack for $99.99 and Best Buy will price match.

Half the stuff in this article seems to be inaccurate. The version I got was 4.1.1 and doesn’t have the multi-window goodnes, or Page Buddy, or a new Gallery app. There is an updated Camera (mm, filters?) and notifications tray, but those are the only big ones I’ve noticed so far.

I updated my Galaxy S3 GT-I9300 Using the Kies program but it updated all the features you get with the jellybean update but still says in my about the device I’m still using ice cream sandwich so I’m lost with this update to jellybean rubbish. Why can’t they just make updating you appliance a lot more simple than waiting for them to roll out the upgrade to you via however they do it. I know the update not that so brilliant but it’s nice to be up there with the rest. Does anyone have any idea when EE is going to give me the damn updates.?

After updating the new software on my phone, I am now unable to access my Microsoft Exchange account (work emails) and also it deleted some of my contacts. I don’t know what happened. It may be user related, but the lack of access to my emails is critical.
