Galaxy S3 Android 4.3 Update Finally Ready for Release

Published

on

One of the few remaining Samsung Galaxy S3 Android 4.3 Jelly Bean updates is finally ready to roll out, months after the Galaxy S3 Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update first started rolling out.

In October, Samsung announced that it would be rolling out a Samsung Galaxy S3 Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update to users around the world. The update delivered Galaxy Gear support, Samsung Knox, Galaxy S4 camera feature, and a host of fixes and enhancements to users starting in November. The U.S. roll out was completed in December with Verizon and several smaller carriers bring up the rear of the release.

However, the Galaxy S3 Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update roll out is still not completely done and there are still several variants that are without the update as we head deeper into 2014.

One of those missing updates is on its way as Vodafone Australia confirmed today that it finally completed testing for the Galaxy S3 3G Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update and that it is ready for an OTA deployment. This could mean a release in a matter of days or it could mean weeks. The Galaxy Nexus Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update saw its testing completed weeks ago but it still hasn’t rolled out.

The announcement comes just a few days after Samsung confirmed Android 4.4 KitKat for the Galaxy S3 in the United States. Vodafone hasn’t confirmed anything past Android 4.3 Jelly Bean for its 3G variant but there is a good chance that the update will skip the device known as the GT-I9300T.

Samsung Poland confirmed that it would not be bringing Android 4.4 KitKat to its version of the Galaxy S3 because of system requirements. The Galaxy S3 only utilizes 1GB of RAM which apparently isn’t enough. Vodafone’s 3G model uses 1GB of RAM which means that there is a chance it could skip Android 4.4 KitKat and remain on Android 4.3.

The news isn’t good for all Galaxy S3 owners, however. Australian carrier Telstra’s Galaxy S3 3G Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update still is in testing with no release date in sight and ThreeUK, a carrier in the United States, appears to still have the update in testing as well. The carrier says that the update failed in testing and that it’s working with Samsung to prepare a new one.

ThreeUK is also one of the few remaining big name carriers that hasn’t rolled out the Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update. The Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.4 KitKat update was also confirmed for arrival in the United States and Poland. It’s not expected to arrive until March or April.

It appears that we may finally be at the tail end of the Galaxy S3 Android 4.3 Jelly Bean and Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.3 Jelly Bean roll out process but that all depends on carriers and the testing process. And unfortunately, it’s extremely unpredictable.

When I see if there is a update my phone says ‘your device has been modified, no updates are available’
    Have not modified at all

Saludos.
