Samsung Galaxy S4 Android 4.3 Update Starts Rolling Out

Published

on

The official Samsung Galaxy S4 Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update roll out has begun, just a few weeks after Samsung promised an update to the Galaxy S4 in October and a few days after the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update leaked leaked out to owners.

Last month, Samsung promised to roll out a Galaxy Gear support update to the Galaxy S4 sometime in October. The company did not specifically mention Android 4.3 Jelly Bean but given the Bluetooth Low Energy support on board, it was assumed that the company was talking about that very update. Sure enough, shortly after the announcement, we saw rumored timelines and Galaxy S4 Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update leaks which all but confirmed the update for arrival this month.

Today, thanks to SamMobile, we now know that the Samsung Galaxy S4 Android 4.3 roll out has begun as users in Germany are now receiving the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update to their Samsung Galaxy S4 LTE. Specifically, it appears that it’s the GT-I9505 that is currently receiving the update and all that it has to offer.

Typically, Samsung roll outs start small before they start rapidly expanding to owners across the world so the fact that the software update is limited to one region and one specific device is not surprising. Owners in the United States are likely going to have a several week wait in front of them as it usually takes weeks before the U.S. carriers are able to push out new software.

When it does arrive, it will bring enhancements and tweaks along with it including a new browser, new TouchWiz launcher, tweaks to the camera application, and some changes to the user interface. It’s not a massive update by any stretch of the imagination but it is an update that should hold owners over until the arrival of Android 4.4 KitKat at some point down the line.

Android 4.4 KitKat is expected to make its debut sometime this month with rumors suggesting an arrival alongside the Nexus 5. And while Samsung hasn’t announced anything just yet, the Samsung Galaxy S4 is expected to join the Galaxy S3 and Galaxy Note 2 in getting the brand new update from Google.
