Here is a fast look at the Samsung Galaxy S6 specs that matter to consumers and what they mean to the phone that you want to use this Spring. The Samsung Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge specs are very similar, but the Galaxy S6 Edge features a slightly larger battery. The bump is not enough to make a Galaxy Note 4 vs Galaxy S5 difference, but it is worth nothing.

Wrapped inside the Galaxy S6 ‘s new metal and glass design are these upgraded specs. Users also gain wireless charging built-in to the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge so you don’t need to look for a power cord. Samsung boasts that the wired charging support can charge faster than earlier technology, so you can charge four hours of battery life in 10 minutes of plugged in charging time. This may help soften the blow that there is no user-replaceable battery.

Samsung Pay is built-in to allow users to make mobile payments easier than ever. This includes NFC payments like many Android devices and the iPhone 6 support, but it also includes the ability to send magnetic card swipes wirelessly so that you can use the Galaxy S6 to pay in more places.

As part of the new Galaxy S6 specs and Galaxy S6 Edge specs users will notice that there is something missing. There is no Micro SD card support on the Galaxy S6 or Galaxy S6 Edge. This means you only get the memory in the model that you buy. This is similar to the iPhone 6, which Apple charges a $100 premium for a jump in storage. We don’t know if Samsung plans this same premium to get more storage.

There is no removable Galaxy S6 battery or Micro SD card.

The new Samsung Galaxy S6 fingerprint scanner lets users place a finger on the home button to log in, instead of swiping. This is a huge upgrade that will make it much more usable in the real world. Forget using two hands to log in, and just place a thumb or finger on the home button and you can log in.

The front and rear cameras support live HDR so you can see what the photo will look like before you take a photo and the new f/1.9 aperture allows more light into the sensor for better low light photos.

Samsung delivers Android 5.0 on the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge. Samsung did not mention TouchWiz, the name of the skin on other Galaxy S and Galaxy Note devices. The trend throughout the upgrade is to strip away things that users don’t need and deliver software closer to Android Lollipop on Nexus devices.

The Samsung Galaxy S6 release date is planned for early April on major carriers in the U.S.

Samsung say they are competing with Apple by not making battery removable. If I wanted a phone with a with a battery like Apple I would buy an Apple
