Samsung Hercules, HTC Ruby Slated for Late October Launch on T-Mobile USA

Published

on

In a leaked document, it appears that T-Mobile USA will launch two powerful dual-core phones on October 26 in the form of the Samsung Hercules and the HTC Ruby. Both devices will tap into the carriers 4G HSPA+ network, and will be two of the most feature-rich Android smartphones available.

The Hercules, which is a variant of Samsung’s Galaxy S II, will feature a vibrant Super AMOLED Plus display, dual-core processor, and 8-megapixel camera with HD video recording capabilities. The device was quietly announced by a Canadian carrier as its Galaxy S II smartphone variant. Unlike other Galaxy S II models, the Hercules will sport the larger 4.5-inch display that was first introduced in the U.S. by Samsung as the Infuse 4G on carrier AT&T. The Hercules will be able to support T-Mobile’s 42 Mbps 4G network. The device was originally rumored to launch in late September, but it seems that the phone will now launch alongside its HTC rival on October 26th.

The other device to launch on the date is the HTC Ruby. First thought to be a mid-tier handset, the device is now considered a high-end superphone according to the latest leaked specs. The device will sport a dual-core processor, 8-megapixel camera sensor, and a large 4.3-inch qHD resolution LCD display. The phone can potentially marry the best high-end features of T-Mobile USA’s flagship HTC Sensation 4G smartphone along with the new camera features found on the carrier’s myTouch Slide 4G. Users would no longer need to choose between a high resolution display and a better camera experience as the Ruby may be the handset that combines those features together.

Pricing for both devices is not known at this time, but considering that these will be high-end handsets, we can probably expect two-year contract pricing around the $200-$250 range.
