Samsung Nexus Prime Finally Caught on Camera?

Published

on

While most of the news today is going to be about Apple and the next iPhone(s), we figured we clue you in to a little tidbit about another awesome smartphone that is sitting on the horizon. The Samsung Nexus Prime is fully expected be announced at a October 11th CTIA event hosted by Google and Samsung in San Diego and it will likely be arriving with some beefy specs and Android Ice Cream Sandwich.

Well, we’ve been waiting and waiting for a photo of the Nexus Prime, just like you, and it appears that GSMArena has finally captured the real Nexus Prime in the wild’s.

What you see here is apparently a piece of the Nexus Prime. No, there is no full photo of it unfortunately and if this is the real deal, it seems to confirm at least one of the devices features. As you can see, it has a display that appears to boast HD resolution with a pixel density over 320ppi. It also shows off a 1184 x 720 pixels resolution but that’s just the active area of the screen.

Nexus Prime

The Nexus Prime will likely come with 1280 x 720 pixels resolution. It’s unclear right now if the display will be PenTile Matrix. There apparently won’t be any hardware buttons on the front either, just three soft buttons.

We know what you’re thinking.

“Hopefully we get a better look at the phone before it launches.”

We hope so too.

I’m thinking I hope to God they didn’t forget the Search button that belongs at the right end of the softkey row. A pure Google device without that easy search access would be like a television without a remote. Useable, but not a choice worth considering.

A persistent search bar, like in the newer versions of Google Maps is not a sensible alternative, but a waste of screen space.

I honestly don’t use search much. I currently have it set to turn off my screen.

I really doubt that the picture shows the actual production model (if it is Nexus Prime indeed). The icon design looks primitive. Personally I prefer TouchWiz to a stock Android.

I’ve been meaning to ask someone about wat u just said. Since its a Samasung phone wouldn’t it come with TouchWiz? But from most of the posts and info I’ve researched, it seems as thought it won’t?

Since it’s a Google Nexus device, it will come with stock Android, it won’t come with TouchWiz skin, even though it’s made (and designed?) by Samsung.

nexus is always stock and its the best way to have android in my opinion. TouchWiz is trying too hard to be like an iPhone which if I wanted, I’d buy an iphone!

Nexus S search bug tethering issues reception issues OTA update issues. Yeah. Google should sit on thier product and perfect it rather than rush it out the door. I had a nexus S. Now I will never buy another android device again. Stick to your search engine google, you clearly don’t know how to make a decent phone.

I was thinking that maybe Sammy should cease production of nexus prime until they can develop their own version of a quad core processor.
