Samsung Roadmap Rumors: Project J, New Note, 13-Inch Tablet

on

Samsung may have a few interesting devices on tap for 2013 and according to a leak, it looks like Samsung is aggressively planning to attack various form factors for mobile computing. There are three devices that were tipped in a recent rumor list posted on SamMobile, and those devices span a flagship Galaxy S smartphone, a low-end Note phablet, and a larger 13.3-inch tablet.

Project J

The leak posted makes mention of a Project J device, which is speculated to be a high-end Galaxy S flagship, perhaps even the hyped and much rumored Galaxy S IV smartphone that will be the successor to the wildly popular Galaxy S III flagship today. Unfortunately, though, the tipster could not confirm any of the previous leaked information for the Galaxy S IV, so we’re still left to ponder if the 5-inch 1080p full HD display, 13-megapixel camera sensor, and quad-core processor will all be a reality on the Galaxy S IV.

Entry-Level Phablet

With the growing success behind the Galaxy Note line, Samsung may be introducing a low-end phablet, but it’s unclear if the cheaper device will be branded with the Note moniker. According to the rumor, the S Pen digitizing stylus won’t come bundled with this entry-level phablet and we can expect a lower resolution display than the current 720p HD Super AMOLED panel on today’s Note II, but perhaps with a display size in the 5-inch range. It’s believed that Samsung won’t be using the Super AMOLED technology for the display, though that’s still yet to be determined. An entry level phablet was previously rumored under the Galaxy Grand brand.

Going Big

Samsung is also planning a larger 13.3-inch tablet, which is larger than the 10.1-inch screen sizes on today’s larger Galaxy Note tablet and the Galaxy Tab. However, it’s unclear if this new larger tablet will be an Android slate or a Windows RT or Windows 8 device. The tablet is said to be coming with its own keyboard dock, similar to what Samsung is already offering on the Ativ Smart PC and Smart PC Pro, the former of which runs Windows 8 on an Atom processor while the latter uses a Core i5 chip from Intel.

I really, really want a nice 13.3 inch Tablet.

The Toshiba excite was a disappointment because the screen was low res for the size, and not very bright, and the Archos will be even lower…

I really want to sell my iPad 3 next year and get the Mini, and have a much larger Tablet replace the larger iPad to keep on the couch….plus I always thought it would be nice to have a tablet that can show a document at 1:1 scale.

Here’s a new 10 inch Android tablet released last week that truly impresses —
The Novo 10 Hero by Ainol Electronics and priced at only $225 – Easily the best
“price-performance” 10″ tablet available, and features a High Resolution 1280×800 IPS screen, 16GB Memory, a strong Dual Core processor with Quad Core GPU, Android 4.1 Jelly Bean Operating System, Wifi, Bluetooth, Ethernet, and an option for 3G/4G connection. If you’re not familar with the manufacturer, Ainol Electronics, they received a “Best Tablet of the Year” award at CNET Consumer Electronics Show 2012 and have hit the ball out of the park with this new model. The Novo 10 Hero also offers a MicroUSB port for connection to printers and other electronic devices, a MicroSD Memory Card slot for unlimited storage (up to 32GB Memory Cards), includes both front and back cameras with a 2 Megapixel back camera; and has HDMI output, which is a nice feature to download movies and watch in Full 1080p (HD) on to a large screen TV. It also makes a great gaming device with its high resolution screen, Motion Sensor, and a processor strong enough to handle 3D games.

One of the first resellers to offer the new Novo 10 Hero is a site called TabletSprint — which also includes $25 in Bonus Apps and hardware accessories. TabletSprint also features a free monthly 3G/4G data plan for the Novo 10 Hero, with no charge for 500MB Data every month… which offers 3G/4G Connection with full internet access and VoIP voice calling over a nationwide network. A free 4G USB adapter is included and the carrier only requires a small refundable deposit for USB Adapter. TabletSprint certainly makes this a great deal and the Novo 10 Hero is worth comparing to other 10″ tablets available this holiday season.
