4 Reasons Not to Install Marshmallow & 3 Reasons to Do It

Published

With the Nexus Android 6.0 Marshmallow release starting to pick up speed, we want to take a look at some reasons why you might want to install it right away and some reasons why you might want to hold off when it arrives for your phone or tablet.

In late September, Google finally announced when it would deliver the Nexus Android 6.0 Marshmallow update to Nexus 5, Nexus 7, Nexus 6, Nexus 9, and Nexus Player. The company selected October 5th for the start of the roll out and as promised, Android Marshmallow started rolling out on October 5th.

This is a Google Android release that we’re talking about here which means that the October 5th release date was limited.

Google pushed the upgrades into AOSP but there are a lot of people that don’t like to manually install their Android updates. The company also started pushing out updates Over-the-Air but progress has been slow for all Nexus users.

This week, we’ve finally started to see the Nexus Marshmallow OTA pick up speed. Today, we received the update prompt on several Nexus devices, a sign that Google’s roll out is ready to hit tons of Nexus devices around the world.

With that in mind, we felt like it was appropriate to outline some reasons why you might want to install Android 6.0 Marshmallow right away. We also felt like it was the right time to outline some reasons why you might want to hold off on installing the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update, at least for right now.

Google won’t make you download and install the update on your device so you can take your time. Many of you will want to be patient with this update. It’s a big one.

You’ll want to keep these seven reasons in mind as you do your research ahead of a potential Nexus Android Marshmallow installation.

Install Marshmallow If You Want to Improve Battery Life

Install Marshmallow If You Want to Improve Battery Life

The Nexus Android Marshmallow update comes with a ton of new features and enhancements. If you want the new features this moment, and you're not concerned about problems, go ahead and install the update right now.

One of the biggest attractions are the battery life improvements that come with the Android Marshmallow update. Google's new Doze feature automatically puts your device, and your apps, to sleep when you're not using them. This has the potential to double your device's battery life.

Companies sometimes make promises they can't keep but that's not the case here. Android Marshmallow brings tangible improvements to battery life. We've seen it on our Nexus devices and tons of Nexus users are thanking Google for this update and the battery life improvements.

If your Lollipop-powered device is starving for juice or if you want to make good battery life great, you might want to consider installing Android Marshmallow soon after it arrives for your device.

There are a lot of great features that come with Marshmallow but for us, and many others, this is probably going to be the biggest.

Agree with the other comments. So frustrating when its dragged out just so it looks like a ‘full article’ when in reality its only a few ‘bullet points’ that actually say……….well, nothing actually.

Marshmallows isn’t worth the 1g of space and is only for new devices reslistically.. also World peace! and Rutherford county Tenn criminal courts need to be investigated for public corruption.

A garbage “article”, like the battery guzzling garbage update. Every android update always sucks up more battery life and marshmallow doesn’t seem to be any exception – apart from the new fat ugly grey stripe across my screen to tell me I switched to battery saving mode. “thanking Google”? How much do they pay you for this pap?
