Sony Xperia Ion Jelly Bean Update Details Coming in 1-2 Weeks

Published

on

Though the Sony Xperia Ion Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update remains unreleased, Sony is apparently ready to deliver more information to owners of the aging smartphone with the company claiming to have information for users coming sometime within the next two weeks.

While Sony has started rolling out Android 4.1 Jelly Bean updates for a number of its devices including the Sony Xperia S, owners of other devices are still in the dark about when their roll out will occur. One of those devices is the Sony Xperia Ion, a device that was promised Android 4.1 Jelly Bean by the end of May. Unfortunately, the update missed that time table, leaving owners wondering about when they might be expecting it.

Sony Xperia Ion Jelly Bean update details will emerge in 1-2 weeks.

Sony Xperia Ion Jelly Bean update details will emerge in 1-2 weeks.

According to Sony, information in regards to the Sony Xperia Ion Jelly Bean update will emerge within the next week or two. It’s not clear if it will be a roll out or if it will be information in regards to a roll out release date. Given that Sony missed the May deadline, we imagine that it could definitely be the update’s roll out but at this point, Sony isn’t saying for sure.

At this point though, it’s clear that Sony Xperia Ion owners are frustrated with the situation that has turned into yet another frustrating wait for Xperia smartphone owners.

When the update does arrive, we suspect that, like the Xperia S update, the software will emerge in phases for regions around the world. In the United States, AT&T Sony Xperia Ion owners are hopeful that the carrier will be among the first to offer the software upgrade though given the carrier’s track record, there is reason to suspect that the AT&T variant could be amongst the last to get Android 4.1.

Android 4.1 Jelly Bean will of course replace the aging Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich as the device’s main operating system and will bring a number of upgrades including a new smoother user interface, improved core applications, better multitasking and widgets, and more.

It’s unclear if this will be the last update for the Sony Xperia Ion.

Sony needs to get off their lazy butts, and work on their customer satisfaction if they want to stay in business. The waiting another one or two weeks is for the birds. This does not reflect well with users of their mobile phones. When they sent out updates they started with the upper models they should have worked their way down the line. Instead they jumped around to the different models like they had no plan at all, they were just responding. This is very poor policy, almost borders on stupidly.

Why the bloody hell did I buy a Sony? Samsung service pissed me off and Sony is light years behind other brands… Talk about losing money to buy a different brand now… Shame on you Sony, I’ll make sure my negative feedback reaches anyone planning for a Sony…

Sony can you kindly not be an ass any more and instead of providing 4.1 update after all this time you should provide us with the 4.2 …. if you dont satisfy your customers you will be out of the mobile business in no time…..

Again empty threats is not going to make Sony move any faster. You honestly think you’re that special for a Company like Sony cares if you leave?? The answer is no you’re not. People are talking about customer satisfaction. No company really cares if a few people complain, not Sony or Samsung or hell any company for that matter. That being said it does sux that they missed the time frame for the Xperia ion. Because I am also an Xperia ion owner. Still my ion works just fine without JB to be honest. The update does not increase my signal strength when i’m talking to people, its just some new software tricks. I do look forward to the new “stamina mode” and “superior auto” but besides those two thinks its not the end of the word. But this wasn’t too much of a shocker I just hope but next week the update will be pushed out.

You say that like there is only one complaint out there. There are literally thousands. So YES we think Sony cares to loose that many customers in addition to the average person will tell 7 other people about their bad experience. That is marketing 101..it’s really asinine for you to tell people that Sony and other companies don’t care about complaints. That is the very basics of what moves a company to change (the complaints). BTW… I am one also who is just waiting for the JB update so I can sell the phone and go with someone like Samsung or Google Nexus. I can also assure Sony that I will tell everyone I know to stay away from them.

    SONY.make.’believe’????
    I don’t think so….
Now I’m starting to plan for a device shift – The Samsung….
I don’t know what they’re doing, and still making up promises they failed to fulfill….
Don’t make promises or hope SONY! Otherwise you’ll start losing customers, and you guys still wanted to say ‘LIKE WE CARE’????
Well then, keep on with the pace you’re on now…. Dark future awaits ahead for you in this business….

Again Sony is jumping to fix the problems for the Xperia sets they released the jb for. They are still dragging their feet with the Xperia ion release. As I said before they are just responding to the people or group that yells the loudest, there is no set pattern to updating these set correctly the first time. They still lack the resemblance of order to their updates. Enough playing around get the job done and right then you won’t have to go back and fix things and putting your selves further behind. Its still just poor customer service. Updating should be a universal generic update for the world not a particular part of the world.
