Sony Xperia S Jelly Bean Update Takes Another Twist

Published

on

The Sony Xperia S Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update, which had been rumored to be coming last month, is now rumored to be coming within the next few days according to a regional branch of Sony.

In mid-March, Sony Germany suggested that the long-awaited Sony Xperia S Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update, which Sony promised would roll out at some point, could be rolling out in March. Unfortunately, the month came and went without an upgrade to the old version of Android Jelly Bean, leaving owners wondering when they might see it.

The Xperia S Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update has taken another twist.

The Xperia S Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update has taken another twist.

Now, another regional division of Sony has chimed in claiming that the Xperia S Jelly Bean update could, in fact, be rolling out in just a few days time.

The branch made the claim on its Facebook page in response to inquiries about the whereabouts of the update. The note, which was discovered by Xperia Blog, suggests that the long-awaited update could finally roll out sometime soon, possibly within the next few days. No specific date is given and based on the past claims from Sony Germany, we advise Sony Xpeira S owners to take this latest rumor with a grain of salt.

In addition, Sony Germany has revealed that the Sony Xperia S Jelly Bean update will be out sometime in the second quarter of this year. So at this point, it’s unclear what the truth might be. April is a part of the second quarter, which spans through June, but it also could be that the update doesn’t arrive until some point in June.

Sony’s main branch has only committed to an update at some point in the future with a specific date for the update not yet clear.

Android 4.1 Jelly Bean is Google’s older version of Android software that arrived all the way back in July of last year. It has since been replaced by a newer version, Android 4.2 Jelly Bean.

It is a huge upgrade over Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich as it brings a number of new features to the table including a new user smoother interface, Google Now, improved multitasking and widgets, improvements to the Camera app and more.

Why to mislead users? Sony never promised they will release JB in march.. Check official site talk.sonymobile.com. And when its come everyone will know Sony didn’t give specific date. We have previous experience of Sony ICS update which rolled out in 45 days.

From my point of view the regional support via chat, facebook, twitter and so on are as well official than the pronouncement on their webside and should be syncronized.

Sony really sucks every time when they promise an update for the specific devices, they sucks very badly in two ways, 1) they always launch update very late & 2) when they launched an update it will take at least 2 weeks to recieve every one.
I really hate their serial number based update really hatefull thing, they should launch update globally for everyone. great shame on you sony

i want this actualization so much!! but if i remember correctly Sony said in December that jelly bean for the S was going to be available in April so they are still on time and is true Sony expends too much time on their actualizations but that’s because they really put a lot of thought into them like i can’t wait to have HDR in my Xperia S =3

    “…including a new user smoother interface…”
The interface its going to smooth me?!

Jokes aside though, thanks for the info. Is HDR confirmed for the Xperia S with this update? Lack of HDR is the only small regret I have in buying the acro S

Queda claro que a SONY solo le intereza el vender telefonos y no actualizarlos, o sera que tienen de personal personas que no se han titulado y por eso tardan en hacer las cosas, para ahorrar en pagos de mano de obra. Ya no se que mensar. SONY MIERDA!!!

Nokia & Windows seem to be working wonders. Apple need to revise their OS. I’ve seen Samsung’s Galaxy S3, its terrible. Nexus 4 seems ok, HTC has got its ideas mixed up. Sony are lost in their own world, and are disappointing customers . . .

This is my last sony phone, the s3 was launched shortly after the Xperia S and is still a current phone and gets updates as a current phone should. The Xperia S is clearly now a legacy phone that sony couldn’t care less about!
