Spec Showdown: Droid Bionic vs Atrix 4G vs Photon 4G

Published

on

So you’re looking to get a new Motorola phone that runs on one of the various 4G networks in the United States. While weighing your options,  you may have stumbled upon a trio of well known devices.

The first, the still unannounced but very real 4G LTE enabled Motorola Droid Bionic on Verizon. A second, the recently released WiMax 4G powered world phone, the Motorola Photon 4G for Sprint. And third, you’ve probably seen the dual-core, HSPA+ 4G equipped Motorola Atrix 4G on AT&T.

And while you may have been doing some research, sometimes it gets tricky, especially when the specs for the phones are on tons of different tabs in your browser. Well, I like making your smartphone decisions easier and that’s exactly what I am hoping this image from Droid-Life does.

Droid Bionic Comparison

What you see here is a spec comparison sheet between the Droid Bionic, the Atrix 4G, the Photon 4G, and T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S 4G which doesn’t really deserve to be a part of the discussion.

No offense.

The chart also gives us a rundown of the Droid Bionic’s specs, if you hadn’t seen them already. 4.3-inch qHD screen, 16MB pre-installed microSD card. mobile hotspot. and more. What’s curious is that it lists 14GB of on board storage space which, is to say the least, a little odd. As is the listing of HTC Sense 1.6 for the Photon 4G.

So, what do you guys think? Droid Bionic win this showdown?

I’m pretty fired up about it.  I wanted the Galaxy s 2, but Verizon isn’t getting it ( I guess their getting something else) and I am desperate to get off of AT&T.  This is gonna be the trick for me.  SOOOOO done with the iPhone.  And now that I saw the ” sneak peak” of what iPhone is, I’m gonna pass

Wonder why it says “NA” to front facing camera on the Atrix, it defiantly has one.

If you are giving up on att because of the iphone, then you are truely dense. The iphone is an overpriced mediocre phone when it comes to the heart of performance in the smartphone world. The only good thing about the iphone is the quality control and the lack of freedom, yet an android user, who isn’t stupidly downloading apps with bad reviews will have the same level of quality on a better phone they can customize to their needs and wants.

Droid Bionic specs aren’t 100% confirmed yet, and with the weird mistakes also… well it kinda makes this chart useless. Agreed the Galaxy S should not have been part of this comparrison attempt.

Wrong, the Driod Bionic specs have been officially release by the FCC since Moto has been dragging their feet

This is, of course, a spec sheet that is intended to favor the Verizon device. Sprint appears to be positioning the photon as a business phone. Hence it has a SIM slot for a GSM network – a feature that bionic does not appear to have.

Also, the MOTOROLA photon does not run HTC sense.

You mean 14 gigabyte installed not megabytes.

Your specs are slighly off, and for sure skewed to the verizon side of things. Atrix for sure has a frontfacing camera go for one, and what’s the average, overall speed of data, not just for the few lucky 4g spots. Plus, the Photon has dlna and does not use HTC sense of any sort, also the ATRIX does not come with an sd card. The photon cannot do voice and data outside 4g or wifi, same with the galaxy s 4g. This chart should be removed before someone becomes truely misinformed by the retard who made it.

Also the Atrix comes with Qik video calling installed already… this chart is very Verizon friendly.

Oh, how cute, lets cut the Sensation or LG G2X (also a tegra 2 dual core) out for the Galaxy S? Makes me laugh, dual core 1.2, this definately was made to favor Verizon, also note that the Atrix cam out in Q1 and has almost the same specs as Bionic.

The dual core 1.2 is on the sensation, 1 on the LG G2X

Ok, I notice my error in this Motorola comparison, but twas the galaxy that I blame for my misconception.

the specs for these phones are way off where did this data sheet come from why would the moto photon have htc sense and wimax is up to 128MBps and 12MBps on sprint max 10 average and 8 only if your on the edge of a 4g network
